In this regard, we considered that the Convention on the protection of individuals with regard to the automatic processing of personal data was established in Strasbourg on 28 January 1981 ( Trb. 1988, 7) Article 91, first paragraph, of the Constitution the approval of the States-General need to be approved before the Kingdom can be bound by it;

In this way, we, the Council of State, and with the mean consultations of the States-General, have been well-regarded and understood to be right and to be understood by the following:


Article 1

The Convention on the protection of individuals with regard to the computerized processing of personal data, of which the English and French texts and the translation were placed in Dutch, was established on 28 January 1981 in Strasbourg. in the Tractatenblad 1988 No 7, is approved for the Netherlands.


Article 2

  • 1 Upon acceptance, a declaration shall be made within the meaning of Article 3, second paragraph, of the A -From the Article 1 referred to as the 'person registrations' categories referred to in Article 2, first, second and third paragraphs, parts thereof B and C , of the Law of personal registrations ( Stb. 1988, 665), the undersigned designated pursuant to Article 54 (4) of that Law.

  • 2 The Government is empowered to amend the declaration referred to in the preceding paragraph if, in respect of one or more of the categories of persons included therein, rules are laid down by or pursuant to law in order to protect the privacy in connection with the automated processing of personal data.


Article 3

This Act shall enter into force from the day following the date of issuance of the State Sheet where it is placed.

Burdens and orders that are in the State Sheet will be placed, and that all ministries, authorities, colleges and officials who so concern will keep their hands on the precise execution.
