The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia 1997 25 November rules no. 386 in Riga (nr. 66.9. ¤) the rules on the common classification system for economic information issued in accordance with the law "on State Statistics" article 4 i. General questions 1. terms used in the rules: 1.1. classification: the catalogue of the phenomenon and the allocation of specific object categories, groups, subgroups and different units depending on their qualitative similarities or differences. Specific phenomena and objects assigned codes enable you to group the relevant phenomena and objects in any of the levels of classification;
1.2. the classification (coding system): a catalogue of objects, where each object is assigned a specific code that replaces the name of the object and is used to identify it;
1.3. a common classification system for economic information: Cabinet approved and all classifications and classification (coding system) users required classification and classification (codes) list that provides all of the national economic information and public records data standardization and apmaināmīb;

2. These rules shall determine the arrangements for the feasible (Adaptive), implement and use the single classification system of economic information.
3. Joint economic information classification system is mandatory for all State and local government institutions, as well as businesses, companies, firms and other legal and natural persons, irrespective of their form of ownership and entrepreneurship in such cases: 3.1. creating and submitting all forms of official information or exchanging it;
3.2. creating all types of State information systems and registers;
3.3. the external economic activity.
II. The unified economic information classification system and the procedure for approval of change 4. Single classification system of economic information, creation and operation of the main coordinator is the National Statistics Committee.
5. A separate classification and classification (coding system) development (adaptation), is responsible for the maintenance and use of relevant ministries and other State institutions (annex).
6. The single classification system of economic information not listed in classifier (local classifier) may only be limited. Local classification are recorded in the National Statistics Committee.
7. Do not allow arbitrary single economic information classification system classification and contained in the classifier (code) augmented by temporary codes or otherwise change it. If a classification or classification (codes) rightly does not meet the needs of the user, the changes are made in accordance with the procedure laid down in these provisions.
8. National Statistical Committee: 8.1 constantly follow the unified economic information and classification system, taking into account the real situation or on the basis of the Ministry and other State institutions, in the application submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals for necessary changes in the single economic classification system;
8.2. consider and evaluate all of the ministries and other State institutions in the developed (adapted) classification and classification (code) project prior to approval and, if necessary, form a multidisciplinary evaluation of the projects submitted by the Commission;
8.3. If necessary, organize a multidisciplinary team classification of the complex concepts and expertise;
8.4. the unified economic information classification system classification and the classification (coding system) general supervision;

9. the ministries and other State institutions: 9.1. within their competence continually follow the unified economic information classification system current events and inform the National Statistical Committee for the necessary changes.

III.
