The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia in 1997 provisions no 2 December. 404 in Riga (nr. 67.36. ¤) National Tourism Administration Regulations Issued under the law of the Ministry of equipment article 15 i. General questions 1. National Tourism Board (hereinafter the Board) is the protection of the environment and regional development Ministry of national civiliestād for the which develop tourism development strategy and implement the State policy in the field of tourism.

II. Administrative functions 5. Tourism Development Board has the following features: 5.1. to organize the tourism development strategy concept and programme design and participate in their implementation;
5.2. independent or the protection of the environment and regional development Ministry's task to develop tourism-related legislation projects;
5.3. Protection of the environment and regional development Ministry of their competence to prepare opinions on different ministries developed legislative projects;
5.4. creating an expert and specialist tourism working group.
6. Tourism market development and international cooperation in matters of Administration has the following functions: 6.1., in collaboration with the National Statistical Committee to carry out a study of the tourism market in Latvia;
6.2. participation in international tourism fairs, exhibitions, conferences and other events and coordinate the Latvian tourism companies (companies) and the Organization of participation in these activities;
6.3. to promote foreign investment in the tourism sector in Latvia;
6.4. to cooperate with foreign and international organisations in the field of tourism and to represent the country in international tourism organisations;
6.5. in matters within their competence, to implement the international treaty;
6.6. to prepare the projects of international agreements on cooperation in the field of tourism;
6.7. within the limits of its competence to participate in transnational cooperation programmes and projects.
7. in the area of the tourist information Board has the following features: 7.1. establish and maintain a Latvian tourist information database;
7.2. create a Latvian tourism information network and coordinate its activities;
7.3. to cooperate with the public information resources of Latvia in promotion of tourism services in Latvia and abroad;
7.4. to issue a specialized communication expenses, provide information to public media, to organise and manage conferences, seminars, as well as public education on tourism-related issues.
8. the Administration is entitled to request and receive from State and local authorities, tourism enterprises (companies) and other legal entities in the work of Government information.
9. The Board shall have the following tasks: 9.1. in matters within their competence, provide information to State and local authorities, as well as other legal and natural persons;
9.2. the laws and regulations in order to issue licences, as well as to create and organize a tourism service provider registers;
9.3. The protection of the environment and regional development Ministry of State of a customer to realize the function of tourism development;
9.4. to promote national implementation of the investment programme in the field of tourism;
9.5. prepare and submit to the Ministry of education and science in proposals for tourism industry professionals required for the preparation of their qualifications and assessment.

12.4. to determine the regulatory officials (official candidate) and employee responsibilities, as well as to issue orders that are mandatory for government officials (servants candidates) and employees;
12.5. without special authorisation to represent the interests of the other Regulatory bodies;
12.6. to appoint and relieve of office administration officials (servants applicants), to confirm their job description as well as hire and fire management employees;
12.7. within the limits of its competence to contract;
12.8. to meet environmental protection and regional development, Minister for the environment and regional development Ministry Secretary and Deputy Secretary of State in certain tasks.
