The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia in 2000 was 25 April, Regulation No 159 (in Riga. No 19, § 17) the rules on the use of personal protective equipment at work Issued under the law "on labour protection" article 16 i. General questions 1. these provisions lay down minimum requirements to be observed when using the work in personal protective equipment, products, devices, equipment and systems, where employees wear or otherwise use to protect their safety and health, for one or more of the risk exposure (remedies).
2. These provisions shall not apply to: 2.1 work clothes or uniforms, not intended for the employee's safety or health protection guarantee;
2.2. the remedies used in emergency relief and rescue services or ambulance services;
2.3. protective equipment worn or used in military service, police or other public order maintenance officers;
2.4. the remedies, used only for rescue ships and aircraft;
2.5. the remedies used in road transport;
2.6. the remedies, sports accessories, used to dealing with sports, and to protect people from injury;
2.7. the remedies used in self-defence or the attacker's bullying;
2.8. for portable measuring devices intended to separate the risk or interference detection and information about them.
3. Remedies (annex 1) is used when the risk of exposure cannot be avoided or lessened by using a collective means of protection (protection for more than one employee safety and health) or by introducing the necessary protection measures.
4. Use only the remedies that are designed and made according to the provisions of Cabinet for personal protective equipment.
5. Protection product must meet: 5.1 the risk; remedy may not cause even greater risk;
5.2. conditions at the workplace;
5.3. the account of ergonomic requirements and the worker's State of health;
5.4. the nature of the employee's body (if necessary, remedy adjusted accordingly).
6. use of the duration of protection shall be determined, taking into account the risks, how often and long time employee is at risk, and effectiveness of health products.
7. the employer shall provide free of charge the employees with remedies, take measures to ensure the maintenance of the working order and comply with hygiene requirements in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions (for example, the storage, inspection, cleaning, disinfecting, repair).
8. Protection features apply only to the manufacturer's instructions for the intended purpose according to the instructions specified security requirements. The employer shall ensure that instructions are understood by employees.

13. For compliance with these rules is the responsibility of the employer.
14. Compliance with these rules is controlled by the State Labour Inspectorate.

19. the evaluation by the employer: 19.1. determine whether the risk cannot be avoided by other means and measures;
19.2. determines the characteristics that it must meet in order to ensure effective protection against the risks of the working environment, given the risks that health product can lead to the same;

20. Change in risk or changes any of the remedies or any of their components, the employer shall review the assessment.
III. consultation, information and participation of employees 21. Employer has the following responsibilities: 21.1. to inform employees about the environmental risk, also risks against which they protect the health product;
21.2. to inform employees and their representatives on all health and safety measures to be taken, using remedies work;
21.3. provide information on remedies available to employees and understandable;
13.3. to organize training in the use of protective equipment (including practical training).
22. Workers and their representatives have the following rights: 22.1. to participate in the discussions on the safety and health of workers using the remedies (including remedies in the assessment and selection);
22.2. to make proposals on the employer's established way of working and their corresponding remedies and health products evaluation and selection, as well as on the necessary measures of protection of the safety and health of workers.
IV. final question 23. Regulations shall enter into force by 1 January 2001.

5. Hand protection: Gloves: 5.1 5.1.1 mitts;
