Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 372, Riga, 20 august 2002 (pr. No 35, § 16) labour protection requirements for the use by workers of personal protective equipment Issued in accordance with the Labour Protection Act article 25 (3) i. General questions 1. labour protection requirements for the use by workers of personal protective equipment, products, devices, equipment and systems, which the employees wear or otherwise use the work, to protect their safety and health at work from one or more risk factors (hereinafter referred to as the means of protection).
2. the rules shall not apply to: 2.1 work clothes or uniforms that are not intended for security or employed to guarantee health protection;
2.2. the remedies used in emergency relief and rescue services or ambulance services;
2.3. protective equipment worn or used in military service, police or other public order maintenance officers;
2.4. the remedies, used only for rescue ships and aircraft;
2.5. the remedies used in road transport;
2.6. protective equipment-sports equipment used, dealing with sports, and to protect people from injury;
2.7. the remedies used in self-defence or the attacker's bullying;
2.8. portable devices designed for measuring work environment risk factors or interference detection and information about them.
3. Personal protective equipment (annex 1), where use of risk factor exposure cannot be avoided or lessened by using a collective means of protection (protection for more than one employee safety and health) or by introducing the necessary protection measures.
4. Use only the remedies that are designed and made according to the legislation on personal protective equipment and comply with: 4.1 the relevant risk factors (health product should not cause even greater risks);
4.2. conditions at the workplace;
4.3. ergonomic requirements and workers ' health;
4.4. the nature of the body employed (if necessary, remedy adjusted accordingly).
5. use of the duration of protection shall be determined, taking into account the work environment risk factors and how often and long time employees are at risk, as well as jobs and safeguard effectiveness.
6. the employer shall provide free of charge to employees with remedies, take measures to ensure the maintenance of the working order and comply with hygiene requirements in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions (for example, the storage, inspection, cleaning, disinfecting, repair).
7. Protection features apply only to the manufacturer's instructions for the intended purpose and in accordance with these instructions the safety requirements laid down. The employer shall ensure that workers understand the instructions are.
8. The inspection before use, maintenance, cleaning, disinfection and maintenance according to the manufacturer's instructions attached in these works by trained workers.

11. each item of personal protective equipment is designed for one employee. If the same remedy alternately used a number of workers, the employer shall take appropriate measures to comply with the hygiene requirements and would not be adversely affected the health of the user.
12. compliance with these rules is the responsibility of the employer.
13. Compliance with these rules is controlled by the State Labour Inspectorate.
 
 
II. risk assessment and protection 14. the employer before the work assessed the risk under the legislation on the internal monitoring of the working environment and determines the risk factors for the prevention of which remedies to use.
15. the employer shall document the work environment risk factors and prevention remedies used to using this rule prescribed in annex 2 form or other equivalent document. A change in the working environment, employers are amended in this document.
16. According to the work environment risk factors determined by the employer and works that the means of protection (1. and annex 3). A change in the working environment, if necessary, shall amend the prescribed remedies and work list.
17. the employer shall provide employees with protective equipment, even if a job or health product not specified in this provision in annex 1 and 3, but remedies are needed for workers ' safety and health.
18. before the workers started to use the health product, the employer shall assess whether the selected remedy matches the rule in paragraph 4 and 10.
19. the evaluation by the employer: 19.1. determine whether the work environment risk factors cannot be avoided by other means and measures;
19.2. determine the remedies necessary characteristics to ensure effective protection against the risks of the working environment, taking into account the protection of risks;
19.3. compares the selected characteristics and remedies that rule 19.2. characteristics mentioned in point.
20. If someone changes the risk factor is changed in a health product or any component of the protective equipment, the employer shall review the assessment.
 
 
III. Information, training, consultation and participation 21. Employer has the following responsibilities: 21.1. to inform the employees about the work environment risk factors, also for those risk factors against which they protect the health product;
21.2. to inform all employees about health and safety measures to be taken, using remedies;
21.3. provide information on remedies available for workers and understandable;
13.3. to organize training of the employed (theoretical and practical) protection products.
22. Workers and their representatives shall have the following rights: 22.1. to participate in the discussions on workers ' health and safety by using remedies (including remedies in the assessment and selection);
22.2. to propose the rules set out in paragraph 16 of the works and their corresponding remedies, for the evaluation and selection, as well as on the measures required workers ' safety and health.
23. in consultation with workers and their representatives on matters referred to in these provisions shall be in accordance with the Labour Protection Act.

3.5. the face shield in welding (hand masks, headband masks or masks that are attached to the helmets).
4. Respiratory and parenteral route protection use the following protective equipment: 4.1 dust, gases, radioactive dust filters with mask;
4.2. insulation device of air supply;
4.3. respirator type device, including removable welding mask;
4.4. diving equipment;
4.5. the diving suits.
5. Hand protection use the following protective equipment: Gloves: 5.1 5.1.1 mitts;
5.1.2. bezpirkst gloves; 5.1.3. dielectric gloves; 5.1.4. protective gloves against mechanical effects (cut protection against piercing, wounds, vibrations), chemical effects of ionizing radiation, and radioactive contamination, heat and other effects;
5.2. the finger Guard (shell);
5.3. the muffs;
5.4. hand wrist guards heavy works.

6. protection of the legs and feet to use the following protective equipment: shoes: 6.1 6.1.1. low shoes, ankle boots, stulmzābak, aizsargzābak;
6.1.2. quick piesienam or pieāķējam shoes;
6.1.3. footwear with extra protection his toes;
6.1.4. shoes and virsapav with heat-resistant sole;
6.1.5. heat-resistant shoes, boots and virszābak;
6.1.6. thermal shoes, boots and virszābak;
6.1.7. vibration dampening shoes, boots and virszābak;
6.1.8. anti-static shoes, boots and virszābak;
6.1.9. electrical insulating shoes, boots and virszābak;
6.1.10. safety shoes against chemical exposure;

8.2. protective waistcoats, jackets, overalls (robes, capes), aprons for protection against chemicals and chemical products;
8.3. warm jackets;
8.4. life jackets;
8.5. aprons for protection against x-ray radiation;
8.6. apron to work with hand knives;
8.7. the belt.
9. Protection against falls to the following remedies: 9.1 features to prevent falls;
9.2. devices for the holding of the body (harness);

10. the work environment against harmful influences to use the following protective clothing (two-piece or overalls): 10.1 outfit for protection against mechanical injury (drilling, turning, frēzēj);
10.2. protective clothing when working with the chainsaw;
10.3. clothing for protection against chemicals and chemical products;
10.4. clothing for protection against molten metals and infrared radiation;
10.5. clothing for protection against electromagnetic radiation;
10.6. the heat-resistant protective clothing;
10.7. thermal protective clothing;
10.8. clothing for protection against radioactive substances;
10.9. clothing for protection against dust;
10.10. the gas-tight protective clothing;
10.11. fluorescent or reflective clothing or accessories;
