Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 374, 2004 in Riga 20 April (pr. No 23, § 74) the provisions on veterinary staff and supporting documents recognised by applying a special system for the recognition of professional qualifications issued in accordance with the law "About the regulated professions and the recognition of professional qualifications" in article 36, paragraph 5, and article 54 in the first part of rule 1 defines the foreign-derived veterinary staff and supporting documents (hereinafter veterinary qualification), which recognises the application of the special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, the and duration of professional experience and type of cases in which the special system for the recognition of professional qualifications obtained abroad, if the qualifications of veterinary surgeons in part with the laws of the Republic of Latvia the provisions laid down in the curriculum requirements for the professional qualification of the official veterinarian.
2. in applying a special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, recognised qualification of the official veterinarian the documents referred to in the annex to these provisions and to 2.1: the Member States of the European Union, European economic area countries and other countries that the Republic of Latvia in accordance with binding international treaties are laid down by the Member States of the European Union the right to the recognition of professional qualifications in the field, gives the right to use the corresponding professional title professional veterinary profession in the operation;
2.2. it is recognised in the European Union;

2.4.8. Republic of Ireland — since 21 December 1980;
2.4.9. the Italian Republic, since 1 January 1985;
2.4.10. The Republic of Cyprus, since 1 May 2004;
2.4.11. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland — since 21 December 1980;
2.4.12. Republic of Lithuania — since 1 May 2004;
2.4.13. Grand Duchy of Luxembourg — since 21 December 1980;
2.4.14. Republic of Malta — since 1 May 2004;
2.4.15. Netherlands — since 21 December 1980;
2.4.16. the Kingdom of Norway, since January 1, 1994;
2.4.17. The Republic of Poland, since 1 May 2004;
2.4.18. Portuguese Republic: since 1 January 1986;
2.4.19. The Slovak Republic — since 1 May 2004;

2.4.22. The Kingdom of Spain — since 1 January 1986;
2.4.23. the Swiss Confederation — since 1 June 2002;
2.4.24. Republic of Hungary — since 1 May 2004;
2.4.25. — in the Federal Republic of Germany since 21 December 1980, except in the German Democratic Republic issued educational and professional qualifications, which are partly consistent with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia the provisions laid down in the education program requirements;
2.4.26. Kingdom of Sweden — since 1 January 1994.
3. 5. before the provisions referred to in point 2.4, the date the national veterinarian qualifications issued documents giving the right to use the corresponding professional title of professional activities of the veterinary profession and partly comply with the laws and regulations of education programmes set out the minimum requirements for the professional qualification of the official veterinarian shall apply to the special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, if they are accompanied by the competent institution of that State issued the document which certifies that the person is not less than three years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the five years prior to the issuance of this document daily.
6. The territory of the Democratic Republic of Germany issued by the official veterinarian in the qualification documents, which give the right to use the corresponding professional title of professional activities of the veterinary profession and partly comply with the laws and regulations of education programmes set out the minimum requirements for the professional qualification of the official veterinarian shall apply to the special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, if:

6.1. they certify that the education has been started before German unification;
6.2. they are accompanied by the Federal Republic of Germany issued by the competent authorities a document certifying that such veterinary qualifications are recognised throughout the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany under the same conditions as those referred to in paragraph 2, the provisions of the qualification of the official veterinarian, and the competent institution issued the document which certifies that the person to whom it was issued, has taken a professional veterinarian and has not less than three years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the five years prior to the date of issue of this document.
7. Veterinary qualification documents, issued to a person whose home country is the Republic of Iceland or the Principality of Liechtenstein, the special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, if they are added: 7.1 the competent institution of the Republic of Iceland issued a document that certifies that the person has taken the professional activities of the veterinary profession in the Republic of Iceland;
7.2. the competent authority of the Principality of Liechtenstein has issued the document which certifies that the person has taken the professional activities of the veterinary profession in the Principality of Liechtenstein.
8. The special system for the recognition of professional qualifications and the qualifications of veterinary surgeons apply documents, where the education is initiated or document are obtained: 8.1 to 1993 1 January the Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia and of the Czech Republic added the competent institution issued the document or documents proving that its territory following the qualification of the official veterinarian the documents have the same legal significance as in the Czech Republic issued the qualification document by the official veterinarian that gives the right to carry out professional activities, by an official veterinarian and has not less than three years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the five years prior to the date of issue of the document;
8.2. before 20 august 1991, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and they have added to the competent institution of the Republic of Estonia issued the document or documents proving that its territory following the qualification of the official veterinarian the documents have the same legal significance as in the case of the Republic of Estonia issued the qualification document by the official veterinarian, who shall give the right to carry out professional activities, by an official veterinarian and has no less than five years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the seven years prior to the date of issue of the document;
8.3. to 11 March 1990, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and they have added the Lithuanian competent authority issued the document or documents proving that its territory following the qualification of the official veterinarian the documents have the same legal significance as in the Republic of Lithuania issued the qualification document by the official veterinarian, who shall give the right to carry out professional activities, by an official veterinarian and has not less than three years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the five years prior to the date of issue of the document;
8.4. to 1993 1 January the Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia and have added to the competent institution of the Slovak Republic issued the document or documents proving that its territory following the qualification of the official veterinarian the documents have the same legal meaning as the Slovak Republic issued the qualification document by the official veterinarian, who shall give the right to carry out professional activities, by an official veterinarian and has not less than three years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the five years prior to the date of issue of the document;
8.5. till 25 June 1991, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Republic of Slovenia is added to the competent institution issued the document or documents proving that its territory following the qualification of the official veterinarian the documents have the same legal significance as in the Republic of Slovenia issued the qualification document by the official veterinarian, who shall give the right to carry out professional activities, by an official veterinarian and has not less than three years of continuous professional experience of the veterinarian profession in the five years prior to the date of issue of this document.
