Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No 149 in Riga in 2005 (1 March. 11 § 2) rules on midwife staff and supporting documents recognised by applying a special system for the recognition of professional qualifications issued in accordance with the law "About the regulated professions and the recognition of professional qualifications" in article 36, paragraph 6, and article 54, first subparagraph 1. determines: 1.1. obtained abroad midwife staff and supporting documents (hereinafter referred to as the midwives qualifications), which recognises the application of the special system for the recognition of professional qualifications;
1.2. in addition to the required duration of professional experience and way of applying a special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, where, in accordance with the findings of the foreign qualification documents midwife midwife acquired the law "For the regulated professions and the recognition of professional qualifications" requirements appropriate education (regarding the structure and content), and certified midwives qualifications education does not comply with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia the provisions laid down in the curriculum requirements for the acquisition of professional qualifications as a midwife.
2. in applying a special system for the recognition of professional qualifications, recognised in the Member States of the European Union, European economic area countries and in other countries, which according to parliamentary approved international agreements are defined in the law of the Member States of the European Union in the field of recognition of professional qualifications, qualifications of midwives issued documents (annex) that meets the following requirements: UR2.1.tie has been recognised in the European Union;

3. 7. the German Democratic Republic in the territory of the midwife qualifications issued documents giving the right to use a professional midwife profession in the operation of appropriate professional and certified education which does not comply with the laws and regulations of education laid down the minimum requirements for the acquisition of professional qualifications as a midwife, apply special Pro fesionāl qualifications recognition if: UR7.1.tie declares that education is initiated before 3 October 1990;

8. the German Democratic Republic in the territory of the midwife qualifications issued documents giving the right to use a professional midwife profession in the operation of appropriate professional and certified education which comply with the laws and regulations of education laid down the minimum requirements for the acquisition of professional qualifications as a midwife, apply a special system for the recognition of professional qualifications: UR8.1.tie declares that education is started before German unification;
8.2. they are accompanied by the Federal Republic of Germany the competent counselling prostitution laws issued a document certifying that such midwife qualifications are recognised in the dock throughout the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany under the same conditions as those provisions referred to in paragraph 2 of document qualifications as a midwife, and the competent institution issued the document which certifies that the person has taken the midwife profession of not less than two years in the five years prior to the date of issue of this document.
