Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 462 in Riga on 11 august 2015 (pr. No 38 13) quality, classification and additional labelling requirements for coffee and chicory extracts issued under the food surveillance law article 4, fourth paragraph, and article 13, paragraph 3, third paragraph of i. General questions 1. determines the quality, classification and additional labelling requirements for coffee and chicory extracts (hereinafter referred to as the product). 2. the provisions do not apply to roasted instant coffee (café torrefact the solubl).
II. Product Classification requirements 3. Products are classified as follows: 3.1 coffee extract, soluble coffee extracts, instant coffee or quick mixing made fun & coffee-focused product, the process of extraction from roasted coffee beans for extraction environment using only water and prevent hydrolysis with acid or alkali. Coffee extract contains only the soluble and aromatic constituents of coffee. Coffee extract can have coffee oil and other insoluble substances which the extraction process is not possible technically separated from coffee extract; 3.2. chicory extract, soluble chicory or fast mixing made fun & chicory-focused product, the process of extraction from roasted chicory, the medium of extraction using only water and prevent hydrolysis with acid or alkali. 4. Chicory extract produced from clean, dried and roasted chicory (Cichorium intybus l.) roots. 5. the product trade name is ' coffee extract ', ' soluble coffee extract ', ' soluble coffee ' or ' fast mixing made fun & coffee "," chicory extracts "," Soluble chicory "or" quick mixing made fun & chicory ". 6. products can be dry, paste (paste) or in liquid form.
III. Product quality requirements 7. Dry matter content in: coffee extract 7.1. not less than 95 percent of the dry weight of coffee extract; 7.2.70-85 percent of the weight, if coffee extract is in the form of mail; 7.3.15-55 percent of the weight, if coffee extract is a liquid. 8. Dry matter content chicory extract is: 8.1. not less than 95 percent of the dry weight of chicory extract; 8.2.70-85 percent of the weight if the chicory extract paste is; 8.3.25 to 55 percent by weight if the chicory extract in liquid form. 9. Coffee extract dry or paste content only the coffee extraction process. 10. Coffee extract in liquid form may contain roasted or roasted food sugar. The sugar content of liquid coffee extract is not greater than 12 per cent of the total weight of the product. 11. Chicory extract dry or paste may contain no more than one percent of the weight of substances that are not derived from chicory. 12. liquid chicory extract may contain roasted or roasted food sugar, if it does not exceed 35 per cent of the total weight of chicory extract.
IV. Additional requirements for the labelling of the product 13. Coffee and chicory extracts shall be marked in accordance with the laws and regulations on the provision of food information to consumers and the labelling of prepackaged food. Mark may, in addition, specify the information set out in these regulations. 14. This rule 3.1. and 3.2. products referred to in the name of the label for a product that meets the requirements of this regulation. 15. Depending on the consistency of the product name adds the words "mail", "Pasty" or "liquid". 16. Liquid product name adds the word "concentrate", where the dry matter content: 16.1 coffee extract is more than 25 percent by weight; 16.2. chicory extract is more than 45 percent of the weight. 17. The provisions referred to in point 3.1., the label of the product in the same Visual field with the name of the product is clear reference "To reduce the amount of caffeine," If the caffeine content does not exceed 0.3% of the dry weight content of coffee. 18. This rule 7.3 and 8.3. of the product referred to in the labelling in the same Visual field with the name of the product is a clear indication "preserved with ...", "...", "added By ..." or "Roasted with ...", which is mentioned in the form of sugar used. 19. If the product is a paste or liquid form, the label indicates the minimum coffee or chicory, dry matter content, expressed as a percentage by weight of the finished product.
V. closing question 20. Be declared unenforceable in the Cabinet of 22 February 2005, Regulation No 140 "quality requirements for the classification and labelling of coffee and chicory extracts" (Latvian journal, 2005, no. 33).
