Nr. 50) Apple trees for distinctness, uniformity and stability test methodology Issued under the plant variety protection act article 18, second subparagraph i. General questions 1. determined the conduct of tests for distinctness, homogeneity and stability testing methodology (referred to as the examination of the variety) to be used for fruit production in Apple (Malus domestica Borkh.), except for varieties, which are only used as rootstocks or only as ornamental varieties. 2. For each variety, which is considered as rootstock or ornamental variety and is also used for the production of fruit varieties in addition to the verification shall be carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations on Apple rootstock or ornamental Apple trees for distinctness, uniformity and stability test methodology. 3. the rules for the supervision and control of the national plant protection service (hereinafter service). 4. examination of the variety under the laws and regulations on the procedures for organizing or carrying out the examination of the variety and take a decision on the recognition of the result of the examination of the variety. II. the material to be inspected 5. Person makes application for service testing of the variety, a description of the variety of technical questionnaire (annex 1) as well as the test material. 6. The material presented as grafted plants to service the designated or root grafts. 7. By submitting the material to be checked, the applicant shall ensure that the material will comply with the following requirements: 7.1 minimum quantity of material to be submitted are: 7.1.1 varieties obtained cross-five trees or five slips, grafted for summer or five grafts grew winter grafting;
7.1.2. varieties obtained by mutation-10 trees or 10 slips or 10 branches grew not winter grafting;
7.2. the material to be tested is visually, without disabilities, diseases and pests without damage;
7.3. test material has not been subject to any kind of chemical process that may affect the characteristics of the variety of manifestations (annex 2);
7.4. the test material is added to a protected zone for the plant passport. III. examination of the variety 8. The minimum length of the test varieties are two growing cycles. The growing cycle is considered one the length of the growing season, which begins with the opening of the buds (flowers and (or) vegetative), flowering and fruit harvest and ending a final period of rest, and the start of the new season buds briešan. 9. a variety of checks in one area of the site. If a breed characteristic (annex 2) this place can not be established, the breed may continue elsewhere. 10. a variety of test conditions which ensure plant growth, which is necessary for the variety of characteristics and variety of expression for checking. 11. the varieties obtained crossing, every trial is planned for observations from at least five trees. If an indication of the variety of climatic conditions or for other reasons cannot be determined, shall carry out additional checks. 15. the determination of the homogeneity of the variety used a population standard of 1% with a 95% confidence. If the sample size is five plants, there should be no deviation. If a sample size of 10 plants, allowable deviation is not more than one different plant. 16. If the breed after checking the results is recognized as homogeneous, it is also considered to be stable. If the data is not convincing, the variety the stability test, raising the next generation, or testing new plant material, which has the same characteristics as observed in plant material delivered previously.
