The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: The school of Economics in Riga, chapter I. General provisions article 1. Stockholm School of Economics in Riga — STOCKHOLM SCHOOL OF economics IN Riga — was created in accordance with the Treaty, by 30 June 1993 at the conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Latvia persons of the Ministry of education and the Stockholm School of Economics: the authority of the Government of Sweden. 2. article. (1) the University is an autonomous institution with the right of self-government. Universities aim, tasks and basic principles article 7. The University's aim is to give students the academic education and vocational training, develop science and forging a culture, to preserve the Republic of Latvia the necessary intellectual potential and promote its development. 8. article. The University's task is to prepare academically educated professionals and also the Baltic of Latvia, science, economy and public administration, giving them new knowledge and skill in its use in the public interest, to carry out fundamental and applied studies in economic sciences, as well as to prepare teachers and scientific employees make professional further training and retraining. University organisational and governance structure is determined by the Board. 16. article. University staff article 17. Tuition fee and scholarships the University can be paid from the State budget, and other features. 9) to approve the rules on course of study, examination, granting of qualifications and diplomas;

12) to approve the composition of the Coordination Council and rules;
13) perform other duties assigned to it. 27. article. (1) the Rector shall represent the University in the State and local government bodies, enterprises, institutions and organizations. (2) Student self-government decisions are mandatory for all students, if they are approved by the Rector. (5) Student self-government representatives have the right to be present as observers including and examinations. Chapter VII. University property, finance and economic activity article 33. (1) the property of the University can be ground, movable, immovable and intellectual property, as well as money in Latvia and abroad, in accordance with the existing legislation. The University's budget consists of: 1) Latvian State funds directly allocated to the universities under the annual State budget Act;

5) income from scientific contracts;
6) income from entrepreneurial and other economic activities;

8) other legislation provided for sources of income. 37. article. (1) the University's budget, structure, and usage is determined by the Board, but its execution is controlled by the Audit Commission. 4) make high school profile according to the business and other economic activities, income and profits of which is included in the budget of the University for its development, as well as to invest the funds in other businesses obtained according to the operational objectives of the University; 5) to receive and use the Republic of Latvia and the foreign banks, other credit institutions, as well as legal and physical persons of the credits, donations and gifts. 39. article. The University is entitled to relief and benefits of the statutory universities and scientific institutions in relation to the payment of taxes, property transfer across the State border and other areas. It also has the other rights and privileges conferred by law, universities and scientific institutions, as well as the following relief: 1) as a non-profit public University is exempt from paying taxes in accordance with legislation in force; 2) universities invited foreign scholars in Latvia, pay taxes and are exempt from State fees for the visa (permission to live and work in Latvia working within the time specified in the contract) in accordance with the applicable legislation and the parliamentary-approved international treaties; 3) graduate school is exempt from customs taxes and duties, as well as from taxes on University buildings reconstruction material and equipment imports.
