The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: the law on religious organizations to make religious organizations Act (Republic of Latvia Saeima and the Cabinet of Ministers rapporteur, 1995, nr. 21; 1996, no. 15; 1997, no. 7) the following amendments: 1. Express article 1 paragraph 1 by the following: "1) religious activities: devotion to the religion or faith, practised the cult of using religious or ritual ceremonies and preaching the teaching;".
2. in article 3: make the first paragraph by the following: "(1) religious organizations is this lawfully registered in the parish, the religious Union (Church) and diocesan.";
to supplement the article with the fourth paragraph as follows: "(4) is concerned, the Diocesan canonical provisions exist for religious Union (Church) the organizational structure of the administrative territorial unit, which manages the Bishop."
3. Add halibut article 6 to the fifth subparagraph by the following: "(5) the Christian faith and the teaching of ethics training is financed from the State budget."
4. To make article 7 the fourth paragraph as follows: "(4) the Diocese can create a religious Union (Church), adopting appropriate decisions about it."
5. To supplement the law with article 7.1 as follows: "article 7.1. Religious institutions (1) in accordance with the procedure laid down in this law, the registered religious organizations in their statutes for religious activities objectives can build institutions that do not have a view of profit and nature: a spiritual training institutions, monasteries, missions, diakonij authorities and similar authorities.

6. in article 8: make the name of the article as follows: "religious, spiritual training institutions, monasteries, missions and institutions diakonij registration";

8. Supplement article 10 the third paragraph after the words "religious Union (Church) leadership" with the words "or on behalf of the Diocesan management."-
9. Express article 11, first paragraph, point 3 as follows: "3) it with your actions (training) constitute a threat to public security or order, health or morals, other people's rights and freedoms, preach religious intolerance and hate the idea or are otherwise in conflict with the law."
10. Make article 13, first and second subparagraph by the following: "(1) religious organizations with their registration to obtain legal personality. Mental training authorities, Abbey, mission and diakonij authorities determine the legal status of the religious Union (Church) or the diocese.
(2) only registered religious Union (Church) or the diocese is free to create a spiritual training institutions, monasteries, missions and diakonij. "
11. Replace article 14, second paragraph, the words "religious Union (Church), a monastery and a church" with the words "religious organisations".
12. Express article 16 the first subparagraph by the following: "(1) religious organizations may be moveable and immovable property. The right to dispose of the real property is the only religious organization governing body if the statutes (Constitution, by-laws) is not certain other arrangements. "
13. Express article 17, first and second subparagraph by the following: "(1) Church and the religious Union (Church) can eliminate or reorganize their statutes (Constitution, by-laws).
(2) the activities of the Diocese shall cease if the religious Union (Church), which is its founder, the statutes (Constitution, by-laws) in the order, shall decide on the termination of the operation. "
14. transitional provisions: to replace in paragraph 2, the words and figures "up to 30 June 1997" with the words and figures "up to 1 May 1998";
