The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: the law "on amendments to the regulated professions and the recognition of professional qualifications" make law "on regulated professions and recognition of professional qualifications" (Latvian Saeima and the Cabinet of Ministers rapporteur, 2001, no. 15) the following amendments: 1. Requirements for regulated professions in the field of civil aviation (1) compliance with the requirements for professional qualifications, consistent with the 1944 Convention on international civil aviation to the appropriate personnel certification standards and recommended practices, the joint aviation authorities (JAA) flight crew qualification requirements (JAR-FCL) and aircraft maintenance specialist qualification requirements (JAR-66), is a mandatory prerequisite for a person to be entitled to take action in the following occupations in the field of civil aviation : 1) pilot;
2) mate;
3 Aviator radio telephone operator);
4) flight engineer;
5) aircraft maintenance specialist.
(2) compliance with the requirements for professional qualifications, consistent with the 1944 Convention on international civil aviation to the appropriate personnel certification standards and recommended practices is a mandatory prerequisite for a person to be eligible to operate air traffic controller profession.
(3) compliance with the requirements for professional qualifications, consistent with International civil aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements is mandatory prerequisite for a person to be eligible to operate the airport staff of the aviodrošīb profession.
(4) compliance with the requirements for professional qualifications, consistent with International civil aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements is mandatory prerequisite for a person to be eligible to operate civil aviation safety oversight officer profession.

(5) to the Republic of Latvia provided education and professional qualifications awarded abroad recognized, provide relevant educational programs and professional certification and licensing procedures in compliance with international agreements. "
7. Turn off article 24.
8. Replace article 25, first paragraph, the words "rail and inland waterway" by the words "and the railways".
9. Turn off the first paragraph of article 34 paragraph 2 of the "j" section.
10. Express article 51 as follows: "article 51. Aliens recognition of professional qualifications in road, railway, maritime and civil aviation occupations of road, rail, maritime and civil aviation professions that qualification requirements are determined by the Republic of Latvia to international treaties, binding aliens professional qualifications recognised in accordance with those agreements. "
11. in article 52: turn off the first part of paragraph 6, the words "(in all transport fields)";
turn off the first part of paragraph 7 and 8.
12. Supplement article 56 with the seventh subparagraph by the following: "(7) the maritime sector Coordinator, or a competent person appointment procedures and responsibilities determined by the 1978 International Convention on standards of training, certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers and the Republic of Latvia regulations amendments to this Convention."
