The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: the law on epidemiological safety do epidemiological safety Act (Republic of Latvia Saeima and the Cabinet of Ministers rapporteur, 1998, no. 3; 2000, no. 10; 2004, nr. 5) as follows: 1. make the following paragraph 11: "11) epidemiological surveillance: the ongoing, dynamic and complex monitoring of the spread of infectious diseases, providing a systematic epidemiological data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination, also a communicable disease epidemiological studies, particularly those aspects relating to the spread of the disease in time, territory, population, as well as infection risk factor analysis, with the aim to explore, predict and influence the epidemiological situation by taking appropriate measures of prevention and pretepidēmij as well as to assess their effectiveness; ";

2. in article 3: (1) be expressed as follows: "1) measures for ensuring a healthy environment;"

5. To make article 7, the first paragraph by the following: (1) "public agency" public health agency "(hereinafter referred to as the public health agency): 1) monitor, study and evaluate the public health situation and health risk factors;
2) plan and coordinate infection prevention and control measures;
3) participates in the prevention of infectious diseases and the national programme for the development and implementation of projects, as well as to cooperate with foreign and international epidemiological surveillance bodies;
4) provides the epidemiological surveillance, collects, aggregates and analyzes data on: (a)) the human infectious disease (infectious patient and person registration and inventory), (b)), infectious patients, and contact the person the results of laboratory tests, c) infectious agents circulating waters and other environmental objects, foodstuffs, as well as infectious disease vectors, d) population vaccination and immunity;
5) coordinates the implementation of the national programme of Immunisation, assess its effectiveness, the vaccination plan, organise and carry out specific population immunity;
6) the epidemiological inquiry, environmental objects and organise contacts, the Laboratory organized and pretepidēmij measures of prevention of infectious diseases perēkļo;
7) inform and advise interested persons, institutions and citizens with media, distributed a special communication on infectious disease prevention and control, as well as on the epidemiological situation in the country and warns of epidemics in foreign countries;

4. Amendments to the law in article 15, article 16, third paragraph article 19, in the first paragraph of article 23, in the first paragraph of article 31 in the second and fourth subparagraph article 32 in the first paragraph of article 38 and the second and third subparagraphs shall enter into force on 1 January 2006. "
The law shall enter into force on the day following its promulgation.
