The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: the amendments to the law "on the City Council, District Council, District Council and Parish Council status" to make the law "on the City Council, District Council, District Council and Parish Council status" (Latvian Saeima and the Cabinet of Ministers rapporteur, 1994, no. 8; 1997, no. 6; 2001, nr. 1; 2005, nr. 14), the amendments are as follows: 1. in article 3.1 : Add to the article with a new third subparagraph by the following: ' Council (Council) member is on pregnancy, maternity and parental leave as well as leave, adoptive father of a child or other person who actually takes care of children, the time is right to put down a parliamentary mandate. ";
replace the existing article in the third paragraph, the words "in the first and second part" with the words "first, second and third part";
to make the seventh subparagraph by the following: ' Council (Council) Member, who is in the third paragraph of this article, in the order he put City Council (Council), as well as the mandate of the Member of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister, Minister with special responsibility for the State or the Minister an application for the renewal of their mandate shall be submitted to the Municipal Council (the Council) to the President within a week of the day ended respectively referred to in the third subparagraph or vacation he graduated to discharge the members of the Parliament or the Prime Minister , Deputy Prime Minister, Minister with special responsibility for or Minister in Office. consider the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively in the article fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh part.
2. in article 15: the third paragraph be supplemented with paragraph 8 by the following: ' 8), pregnancy, maternity and parental leave, leave for the child's father, adoptive parent or other person who has actual care of the child, the application of labour law 153 154 155, and 156, article. ";

The law shall enter into force on the day following its promulgation.
The law adopted by the Parliament of 22 June 2006.
 
The President of the Parliament instead of the President i. Otter Riga 30 June 2006 Editorial Note: the law shall enter into force by 1 July 2006.
