The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: the amendment of the plant protection act to make the plant protection Act (the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia and the Cabinet of Ministers rapporteur, 1999, no. 2; 2004, nr. 8; 2005; 2006, nr. 12, no 24) following amendment: to express in article 18.1, sixth subparagraph by the following: "(6) individual species distribution of invasive plant control measures prescribed by the Cabinet of Ministers involved in local government. The spread of invasive plant species in the Republic for the implementation of control measures in the urban municipality or district municipality: 1) adopted a decision on the Cabinet down invasive plants species control measures in the territory of the municipality and published in the newspaper "Gazette";
2) establish an expert group includes national plant protection services representative. The Group of experts develop the municipal distribution of invasive plant species control measures;
3) in collaboration with the national plant protection service is organised and coordinated by the containment of invasive plant species of the measures if the land owner or possessor does not perform invasive plant species distribution in containment measures. "
The law shall enter into force on July 1, 2009.
The Parliament adopted the law on 17 July 2008.
