With the approval of the Federal Council, the Bundestag has adopted the following law: Unofficial table of contents

Art 1 General

The following agreements, signed in Brussels on 20 July 1995 by the Federal Republic of Germany, are approved:

a)

the Convention of 19 June 1995 between the States Parties to the North Atlantic Treaty and the other States participating in the Partnership for Peace with regard to the legal status of their troops;

b)

the Additional Protocol of 19 June 1995 to the Convention of 19 June 1995 between the States Parties to the North Atlantic Treaty and the other States participating in the Partnership for Peace with regard to the legal status of their troops.

The Convention and the Additional Protocol shall be published below with an official German translation. Unofficial table of contents

Type 2 handling of damage

(1) For damages, Articles 6, 8 to 14 and 25 of the Act on the NATO Staff Regulations and the Additional Agreements of 18 August 1961 (BGBl I) shall apply. 1183), as amended in each case. (2) Claims for damages against members of the armed forces of a Contracting Party from acts or omissions not committed in the exercise of the service shall be: in accordance with Article 2, sentence 1, with Section 16 (5) of the Armed Forces Act of 20 July 1995 (BGBl. 1995 II p. 554). Art 3 authorizing the adoption of legal orders

(1) The Federal Government of Germany is authorized to conclude agreements with parties to the Convention on

a)

Entry and temporary residence of their armed forces for exercises, transit through land routes and training of units, and

b)

the legal status of the armed forces and their dependants, their civil success and the members of the family, in the case of rebates in the other State

by legal regulation without the consent of the Federal Council. By way of derogation from Article I of the Convention, in conjunction with Article VII of the NATO Staff Regulations, these agreements determine that the courts and authorities of the sending State do not have criminal jurisdiction in the host Member State and shall contain on the Basis of reciprocity regulations pursuant to Article 2 (7) (2) and (3) of the Dispute Settlement Act of 20 July 1995 (BGBl. 1995 II p. 554). These arrangements shall include, where appropriate on the basis of reciprocity, further arrangements as provided for in Article 2 of the Armed Forces Law, where necessary in accordance with their subject-matter and purpose. Art 4 Final provisions

(1) This Act shall enter into force on the day following its announcement. (2) The date on which the Convention shall enter into force for the Federal Republic of Germany in accordance with its Article V and the Additional Protocol in accordance with its Article II, shall be published in the Federal Law Gazans to announce.
