----

In accordance with Article 1 (4) of Annex I to the Treaty establishing a Monetary, Economic and Social Union of 18 May 1990, the circulation coins of the former GDR still valid in the accession area shall be denominated in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Pfennig, with effect from 1 July 1991, out of course. The coins thus lose their validity. However, until 30 September 1991, the State Bank Berlin and its branches and branches, as well as the cash registers of the Deutsche Bundespost and the Deutsche Bundesbank in the accession area, shall be subject to the nominal value of other legal tender for the Federal Republic of Germany; all other credit institutions in the accession area have been asked to do likewise.
This is announced by the Federal Government.
