Species 1

The Agreement between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, the United Nations and the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which was signed in Bonn on 18 August 1998, on the seat of the United Nations Convention on the Eradication of Desertification The permanent secretariat of the Convention, including the accompanying exchange of notes from the same day, shall be approved. Type 2

The Federal Government is authorized to enter into force by means of a legal regulation with the consent of the Federal Council, amendments to the Agreement, subject to the following conditions. The amendments need to be made in the framework of consultations between the Contracting Parties pursuant to Article 6 (2) and Article 3 (1) of this Agreement in conjunction with Section 8 of the Exchange of Notes on the Agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the United Nations on the seat of the United Nations Voluntary Programme (BGBl. 903, 917). Art 3

Article 3 of the Law of 5 June 1996 on the Agreement of 10 November 1995 between the Federal Republic of Germany and the United Nations on the seat of the United Nations Voluntary Programme (BGBl). 903) shall apply accordingly to staff members of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, or their family members, within the meaning of Article 24 (2) of the relevant applicable law. Species 4

Article 5 of the Agreement shall also apply to persons within the meaning of the first sentence of Article 22 (7) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, in particular in the case of: Africa (BGBl. 1468), which take part in the meetings of the Conference of the Parties and their subsidiary bodies, respectively. which have been authorised to participate, in so far as such persons do not already enjoy privileges and immunities in accordance with other provisions of the Agreement. Species 5

(1) This Act shall enter into force on the day following its announcement. (2) The date on which the Agreement enters into force for the Federal Republic of Germany pursuant to its Article 6 (6) shall be disclosed in the Federal Law Gazans.
