I S. 2407), in agreement with the Federal Ministry of labour and Social Affairs: Chapter 1 General provisions section 1 scope and application (1) this regulation for vehicles, floating plants, and float on the annex I2) designated waterways of the Association 1 the procedure for the technical approval for the transport , 2. the requirements for construction, equipment and furnishings, 3. the demands on the crew, 4. the requirements on the carriage of passengers.
Sentence does not apply 1 number 3 as far as the requirements of the occupation by the ship personnel Ordinance-Rhine are regulated.
(2) this Regulation applies to vehicles in the categories set out in annex II § 1.02. (3) it addressed the technical requirements of a 1) referred to in annex II in the case of the Rhine, b) Annexes III to X and XII in the case of other waterways referred to in annex I of the Covenant, 2. the requirements of the number and qualifications of persons with whom a vehicle , a floating plant or a float (crew), must be occupied after a) annex X § 7.02 for small passenger vessels, b) annex X section 10.02 letter d for Zeesboote and taxi boats, c) part II the ship personnel Ordinance-Rhine for sea-going vessels, if complied with Chapter 20 of annex II, d) annex XI chapters 1 and 3 for the other vehicles, unless expressly otherwise determined.
(4) by way of derogation from paragraph 3 No. 1 letter b is to apply Annex X part 1 and 3 on the Rhine.
(5) on the Danube this regulation without prejudice to article 5 for vehicles that are resident in a Danube riparian State which is not a member of the European Union, only with respect to the requirements for the crew; No. 3 and § 3.02 are annex XI section 3.01 does not apply.
(6) Moreover, this Regulation applies to all 1 ferries, 2 barges, 3 small passenger vessels, 4. seagoing vessels.

Article 3 competent authorities (1) for the technical inspection of vehicles to transport on waterways authority is the Central ship inquiry/ship gauging Office for the water and shipping Directorate South West with the commissions of Inquiry formed at their offices.

§ 4 principle (1) construction, installation and equipment of a vehicle, a floating plant and a float must comply with the requirements of this regulation. § 5 technical approval (1) the technical approval for the transport is granted after prior examination by a Commission of inquiry by the Central ship inquiry/ship gauging Office. (4) for a ferry, the proof of admission to the transport sector by a Fährzeugnis is according to the model in annex V, part V to provide.

(7) a driving ability certificate issued by a competent authority of a country is equivalent to a driving ability certificate issued under this regulation, as far as it not been granted see grant relief or local restrictions.
(8) type-approvals and provisions relating to the installation and function test are considered in accordance with annex XIII equivalent.

Article 20 entry into force
This regulation enter into force on the day determined by the regulation of the introduction to the regulation on inspection of inland waterway vessels.
