§ 1 Subject matter of the Federal Demand Plan

(1) For the projects listed in the Annex to this Act, which shall include the adaptation, development and development of transmission networks for the integration of electricity from renewable energy sources, for the interoperability of electricity networks within the European Union, the connection of new power stations or the prevention of structural bottlenecks in the transmission system, the need for energy and the urgent need to ensure a safe and reliable Network operation as a federal demand plan according to § 12e of the (2) The projects referred to in paragraph 1 also include the facilities necessary for the operation of power lines, including the necessary changes to the network links. The projects will start and end at the network link points. Unofficial table of contents

§ 2 Signed Projects

(1) The projects identified in the Federal Demand Plan with "A1" are transnational within the meaning of Article 2 (1) of the Network Development Acceleration Act (NetzausbauAccelerungsgesetz). The projects identified in the Federal Demand Plan with "A2" are cross-border within the meaning of § 2 (1) of the Network Development Acceleration Act. (2) Projects marked "B" in the Federal Requirements Plan may be pilot projects. For a low-loss transfer of high performance over long distances according to § 12b (1) sentence 3 (3) (a) of the German Energy Economic Law (Energiewirtschaftsgesetz) are being constructed and operated. In order to test the use of underground cables for pilot projects as set out in the first sentence, they may be constructed and operated or modified on technically and economically efficient subsections as underground cables, if the requirements of Article 2 (2), first sentence, Point 1 or point 2 of the Energy Management Act. At the request of the authority responsible for the approval of the project, the pilot projects referred to in the first sentence shall be constructed and operated on technically and economically efficient sub-sections as underground cables, if the requirements of 2 (2), first sentence 1, point 1 or point 2 of the Energy Law on Construction of the Energy Law. The provisions of sentences 2 and 3 shall not apply to the extent that the project is to be constructed and operated or amended on the route of an existing or already approved high or maximum voltage supply line. Section 43, first sentence, points 3 and 4 of the Energy Economic Law remains unaffected. (3) The projects marked "D" in the Federal Demand Plan are pilot projects for the use of high-temperature conductor ropes in accordance with § 12b (1) sentence 3 (3) (3) (3) (3) (3) (3) b of the Energy Economics Act to establish and operate or to modify it. The competent authority responsible for the approval of the project may authorise the use of high-temperature conductor ropes in the case of projects of the Federal Requirements Plan, which do not fall under the first sentence, to the extent that this is technically and economically efficient.
