Entry into force: the order comes into force the day following its publication.
Notice: the decree establishes the outer limits of the continental shelf, as defined by the the United Nations convention on the law of the sea of 10 December 1982 (known as 'Montego Bay convention') off the coast of the territory of New Caledonia. These limits are set on the basis of the recommendations made by the Commission on the limits of the continental shelf (CLCS) September 2, 2009, on the application by the France May 22, 2007, the national programme rational Extension of the continental shelf (EXTRAPLAC). They relate to the continental shelf extending southwest of the coast of New Caledonia.
In accordance with the law organic No. 99-209 of 19 March 1999 on New Caledonia, exploration and exploitation of the continental shelf is a competence of the State, unlike the superjacent waters.

The limits of the continental shelf off the coast of the territory of New Caledonia are defined by segments joining each point in the table below to the next item. These segments are of rhumb (straight lines on the maps in Mercator projection). The coordinates are expressed in the system geodetic reference RGNC91-93, compatible with the WGS 84 for the resolution to which they are provided.
