The deployment of a high-speed fibre optic network to the subscriber is an essential technological development. It meets the limitations of ADSL and anticipates the intensification of uses. The objective of the government was to provide access to 100 Mb/s in 2025 throughout the territory. This ambition represents an investment of 21 billion euros. If this deployment is based on private investment, it aims to limit duplication and encourages operators to coordinate in the development of infrastructure. The system also relies on local authorities: to ensure the coherence of deployments and to take the initiative of projects on territories that would not be affected by the investment of operators. The IDATE study calls for a certain stability of the framework that has been established by paying particular attention to the least populated areas.
