Decrete:
The French letter denouncing the Treaty of Collaboration in Economic, Social and Cultural Matters and Collective Self-defence (the so-called "Brussels Treaty"), signed on 17 March 1948 and amended by the Paris Agreements of 23 October 1954, will be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of State, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, are responsible, each with regard to him, for the execution of this decree, which will be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.

Referring to the statement of the Presidency of the Permanent Council of the Union of Western Europe, dated 31 March 2010, I have the honour to inform you that the French Republic has decided to end the Treaty of Collaboration in Economic, Social and Cultural Matters and Collective Self-defence (the so-called "Brussels Treaty"), signed on 17 March 1948, and amended by the Paris Agreements of 23 October 1954.
This letter constitutes the declaration of denunciation of the amended Brussels Treaty, as referred to in Article XII of the Treaty. As agreed with the High Contracting Parties, this denunciation will take effect on 30 June 2011. The denunciation of other agreements and conventions related to the amended Brussels Treaty will be addressed to the relevant depositary authorities.
I should be grateful if you would inform the High Contracting Parties of the French decision.

Denunciation by the French Republic
On 7 June 2010 was deposited with the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Belgium, the denunciation of the French Republic concerning the aforementioned International Act.
As agreed between the Contracting Parties, this denunciation will be registered on 30 June 2010 and in accordance with the provisions of Article XII of the Consolidated Treaty, the denunciation will take effect with respect to the French Republic on 30 June 2011.

As agreed between the Contracting Parties, this denunciation will be registered on 30 June 2010 and in accordance with the provisions of Article 56 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties of 23 May 1969, the denunciation will take effect with respect to the French Republic on 30 June 2011.
