I. ∙ OVERVIEW

Central banks and financial stability
Economic Analysis Council
Jean-Paul Betbèze, Christian Bordes, Jézabel Couppey-Soubeyran and Dominique Plihon
This report discusses the necessary evolution of the missions of central banks in response to the financial crisis that we have just crossed. It is based on an investigation that has been answered by economists and bankers from all over the world and which allows to identify different opinions.
From this survey, two readings are proposed. Both agree on the need for a link between monetary policy and the macro-prudential global financial stability policy. But they differ in terms of this joint. The first argument for maintaining a separation between these two types of policy. On the contrary, the second advocates coordination of monetary policy and macro-prudential policy within the Central Bank. The authors ' preconizations are presented following these studies. The comments are by Daniel Cohen and Jean-Pierre Vesperini. The report also received three additional studies by Michel Aglietta, Charles Goodhart and Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa. An important bibliography accompanies all these developments. As with each of the titles of this collection, substantial summaries, in French and English are offered at the end of the book.

Assessment of Associative Life 2008-2010
National Council for Associative Life
This assessment, carried out by the National Council of Associative Life, provides an overview of the associative life and its recent developments. The Council ' s work was consistent with the themes selected for the second conference of associative life in 2009: promotion of volunteerism, contractual relations between associations and public power, and place of associations in civil dialogue. Note that – since the TEPA Act of August 21, 2007, some aspects of the taxation of associations and foundations have changed. The book then presents an analysis of the creations of associations over the past five years with both sectoral and geographic evolution. A chapter is devoted to the associative employer and its emergence in social dialogue. Finally, the role of associations within the Economic and Social Council, along with other civil society actors, is discussed.

Evaluation of the national plan "Well aged" : 2007-2009
High Public Health Council (HCSP)
The national plan " "2007-2009 is part of the three-year "Healthy Ageing" project launched by the European Union's public health programme in 2004. Its objective is to establish the optimal conditions of the "age well".
Priority areas have been identified that are based on health prevention measures (nutrition, physical and sporting activity, care and medicines), not to mention such important relational and social aspects: intergenerational solidarity, local solidarity, but also habitat adaptation; strengthening research is also discussed.
The High Council of Public Health here presents the outcome of its work in a practical document, proposing a quantitative and qualitative approach. The evaluation committee, beyond its reserves on the governance, structuring and capacity deficit, issues four recommendations to support consideration on the next plan.

Annliese Nef, Vanessa Van Renterghem

Who was Muhammad, the messenger of Allaah, the last and most accomplished prophets for his faithful? What company did he live in? What do we know about the personality and life of the founder of Islam? These six stories recount some great episodes of the Prophet's life as they were transmitted to us by the Qur'an, the sacred book of Islam, and the Muslim Tradition: the revelation on Mount Hirâ', the preaching and leak in Medina, the night journey and the celestial ascent, but also the battles carried out to make accept the Koranic message and the conquest of La Mecca, or the life of the family What do we learn about the existence of Muhammad on the memory that the following generations have preserved? Social networks and media in tourism
How to increase visibility and optimize its online presence?
Atout France
Faced with the rise of media and social networks, Atout France wanted to analyse this phenomenon and its applications in the tourism sector. With six hundred million users for Facebook (including 20 million French), and some two hundred million for Twitter, there are unprecedented opportunities for exchanges for tourism companies. What panorama can social media be created in 2011? What are the specific behaviours of young people between the ages of 18 and 35 in the face of this phenomenon? What uses do tourism operators make? What are the rules to invest usefully in this new mode of communication? This technical guide aims to answer these questions in a simple and practical way and proposes recommendations to properly start its social media presence strategy.
