Judgment of March 30, 2010 amending the regulations and the program of external and internal competitions for the recruitment of higher education and civil aviation technicians

In view of the amended decision of 20 December 2006 setting out the regulation and program of external and internal competitions for the recruitment of senior civil aviation technicians,

    A N N E X E I
    PROGRAMME OF THE EXTERNAL TECHNICIANS
    STUDIES AND THE EXPLOITATION OF CIVILE AVIATION
    Written proof of eligibility
    I. ― Mandatory written tests


    1. English (duration: 3 hours, coefficient 3).
    The French composition test must first of all allow to appreciate the candidate's style qualities, his ability to clearly articulate a question and to correctly write.
    The material presentation and the spelling of the copy will affect the rating given to the candidate.
    2. Mathematics (duration: 2 hours, coefficient 3).
    Current program of the STG terminal class (specialities "mercatic", "business accounting and finance", "information systems management").


    II. ― Optional mandatory written tests
    (The candidate must select one of the tests listed below.)


    1. Mathematics and physics (duration: 3 hours, coefficient 6).
    Program of mathematics and physics in force of terminal class S.
    2. Science and industrial technologies (duration: 3 hours, coefficient 6).
    Current program of technology terminal class, STI series.


    III. ― Optional Written Tests
    (2 maximum)


    1. Aeronautical knowledge (duration: 1 hour, coefficient 1).
    The test consists of a candidate's general knowledge survey in technical areas and air traffic control. The test will not contain complex problems but may include simple calculations or the application of usual formulas.
    The test covers the following:
    (a) Navigation and radio navigation:
    Basic definitions (Nord, roads, caps, etc.).
    Units, Mercator cards and Lambert. Practical use.
    The speed triangle. Speed triangle resolution.
    Common unit conversion problems.
    Calculation of the middle point, non-return point, disroutement.
    Note on speed and altitude measurement, speed correction, basic calculations.
    Note on the usual on-going radionavigation facilities and equipment and landing.
    Description, use, scopes, principle.
    Note. ― The use of maps, rapporteurs and compilers is included in the program.

    (b) Weather:
    Fundamentals on air masses, cloud types, frontology.
    Pressures, humidity.
    Hazardous phenomena for aeronautics: freezing, turbulence, thunderstorms, fogs.
    (c) Air traffic control:
    Air rules. Air traffic services.
    Organization of control, procedures in force.
    Aerodrome and Approach Control Procedures, Regional Control.
    Aeronautical information, AIP.
    Messages.
    Altimetry.
    Alert service.
    (d) Aeronautical and aerodynamic technology:
    The plane. Description. The constituent elements. The cell.
    The rules. Hypersustentative devices.
    Aerodynamic element. Portance. Trained. Equations of the flight. Down, up, down.
    Propellants. Description. Constituent elements.
    Use settings. Performance.
    Note on instrumentation.
    2. Living language other than English (duration: 1 hour, coefficient 1) (German, Spanish, Italian, Russian).
    The test must determine the ability of candidates to express themselves correctly and to understand the documents.
    The test may include either a theme, a version or a test, or a knowledge assessment test.
    The subjects will be of general order, using the current vocabulary.


    Oral admission tests
    IV. ― Mandatory oral tests


    1. Meeting with the jury (duration: 30 minutes, coefficient 2).
    From a text, the conversation with the jury must allow us to appreciate the qualities of reflection and the knowledge of the candidate.
    2. English (duration: 30 minutes, coefficient 3).
    The test must determine the ability of candidates to express themselves correctly and to understand sound documents.
    The questioning of the candidate is based on authentic English-language recordings of excerpts of dialogues or interviews dealing with topical issues. These extracts are each of about two minutes.

    Drafting an administrative note based on a documentary record of up to 15 pages with figures (statistical, accounting, financial and administrative data) including professional knowledge specific to the field of activity of the general civil aviation authority and allowing to verify the candidate's analytical and synthesis qualities.
    2. Mathematics (duration: 2 hours, coefficient 2).
    Current program of the STG terminal class (specialities "mercatic", "business accounting and finance", "information systems management").
