With the Director General of Education and Research, the inspection of agricultural education is responsible for the permanent inspection, expertise and support missions. It contributes to the overall animation of the agricultural education and vocational training system and participates in the initial and ongoing training of teaching staff. It contributes to the recruitment of workers who work in agricultural education.

The technical education department defines and implements the policies of agricultural technical education, in terms of training and piloting of local public institutions and contracted private institutions as part of a dialogue with the deconcentrated services, territorial authorities, professional sectors and federations of private education. The service organizes the management dialogue with the deconcentrated services. It ensures that local public institutions are involved in all missions to agricultural education.

The sub-direction of training and education policies is responsible for the definition and animation of the education, training and education policies of the Ministry responsible for agriculture for all school, learning and continuing vocational training schemes, including those involved in the agricultural installation.
It defines the educational orientations and educational action of public and private technical institutions.
It defines and updates references leading to national diplomas, titles and certificates of professional capacity of general, technological and agricultural professional education.

It organizes partnerships with professional sectors, including the implementation of capacity-building schemes.
It ensures the representation of the ministry responsible for agriculture in the policy-making bodies on lifelong training and in the training funds and registered joint collector organizations.
It contributes to the definition and monitoring of the implementation of the routes to the plant in agriculture.
It provides the secretariat of the professional advisory committee and liaison with the National Professional Certification Commission.
It provides guidance and regulation on school and student life.
It develops guidance and coordinates public health, hygiene and safety actions for training audiences.
It directs, animates and coordinates actions for school, social and professional integration.

The sub-direction of institutions, staffing and skills is responsible for the definition, distribution and management of the skills and staffing required for the exercise in institutions and regions of the various missions of public and private agricultural technical education. It coordinates and directs the organization and monitoring of public structures and institutions.
She is responsible for organizing and shaping public educational institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture. It provides them with legal support and participates in the development of regulations that apply to them.
It sets out the framework and animates the establishment and evaluation of regional agricultural education projects and settlement projects.
It provides guidance, animation and follow-up to the organization of local public schools of agricultural education and vocational training and all the centres that compose them.
It drives the policy of contractualization between the State and private technical institutions, and implements the monitoring of private agricultural educational institutions under contract with the State.
It implements measures to ensure the national coherence of the training offer. It prepares management dialogues and proposes synthesises. It participates in the process of defining the sectors and trades of agricultural technical education personnel, taking into account in particular the effects of policy reforms and guidance.
It participates in public health, hygiene and security activities for local public institutions.
It participates in the preparation of statutory texts relating to these personnel.
It ensures the guardianship of national public institutions of agricultural technical education.
The sub-direction of institutions, staffing and skills includes:

The service of higher education, research and innovation defines higher education policies, research, innovation and development. It pilots and coordinates the Department's actions to foster innovation for the economic sectors within the scope of the Ministry of Agriculture. It aims to foster the links, through these policies, with technical education, particularly in the exercise of the mission of development, experimentation and applied research, and missions of animation and development of territories and international cooperation. It organizes the management dialogue with public agricultural higher education institutions.

The sub-direction of higher education and research is responsible for skills, research and higher education.

She is the co-tutelle of the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and the National Centre for Agricultural Engineering, Rural Engineering, Water and Forests (CEMAGREF). It prepares and monitors evaluations in relation to the Agency for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (AERES).

It prepares and implements the policy of contractualization between the State and the higher education institutions.
It determines the personal needs of all institutions.
She participates in the preparation of the statutory texts of the staff.

It prepares regulations for the control of student recruitment in public institutions.

The sub-direction of innovation is responsible for the direction of research policies and the implementation and monitoring of development and innovation policies. It is responsible for promoting synergies between research, development and training. It ensures the coherence of the implementation of these policies from a national, European and international perspective. For the conduct of her missions, she mobilizes higher education institutions, research institutes, local public institutions and agricultural development organizations.
In the department's areas of expertise, she coordinates the identification of research and innovation issues. It ensures that these issues are taken into account in departmental policies, research organizations and research and innovation funding agencies.

The sub-direction of innovation includes:
– the research finalization office;
– the Office of Partnership and Innovation Initiatives;
– the office of European relations and international cooperation of agricultural education.

The mission of the strategy and information systems is responsible for developing the management modernization strategy as well as the tools for strategic and operational steering assistance. It pilots the system of support for agricultural education.
It designs, organizes and implements the master plan of management information systems and the different levels of agricultural education, as part of the department's national information systems master plan.
It collects, processes and analyzes statistical and management information relating to agricultural education, research and development. It participates in the development of indicators.
It prepares the national forecasting scheme for training in agricultural technical education, monitors and evaluates its implementation.
It serves as the secretariat for consultation bodies, including the National Council for Agricultural Education, the National Council for Higher Education and Agricultural, Agri-Food and Veterinary Research and the Central Joint Technical Committee for Agricultural Education.
It organizes the system of support for agricultural education, especially with regard to the policy of supporting educational initiatives of institutions.
It monitors the national actions of the support system. It organizes the synergy of these actions with those of the national operational programme of the European Social Fund.
It promotes and coordinates the development of open and remote training, the use of new technologies and the dissemination of educational resources in agricultural education.
It contributes to the development of guidance and the implementation, at the national and regional levels, of the ongoing training of public agricultural education staff.

The General Affairs Mission is responsible for the management of common means across management.
It contributes to the human resources management of management officers.
It is responsible for ensuring consistency in legal and regulatory production and analysis within the management and agricultural education services.
It synthesizes the budget programming for the programs that the DGER is responsible and ensures its execution in conjunction with the sub-directions concerned.
It manages general management activities, including documentary management and logistics. She is the representative of the delegation to the information and communication of the General Secretariat on communications matters.

The management control mission is placed with the Director General. She provides her with management support in the organization and management.
