Decree of 28 November 2007 on the organization of the Air Defence and Air Operations Command

Given the defence code, including its Articles D. * 1221-1, D. * 1221-3, D. * 1221-4, D. * 1441-1, D. * 1442-1 to D. * 1442-6 and D. * 1681-14 ;
Vu le Decree No. 84-26 of 11 January 1984 conducting searches and rescues of aircraft in distress in peacetime;
Vu le Decree No. 91-672 of 14 July 1991 modified to carry out the general organization of the air force;
Vu le Decree No. 96-577 of 27 June 1996 amended on the functions of the Director of Military Air Traffic;
Vu le Decree No. 2005-520 of 21 May 2005 establishing the functions of the Chiefs of Staff, including Article 16;
See?27 November 2003 concerning the organization of the Ministry of Defence for the operation of military nuclear systems and nuclear facilities of secret bases in the field of nuclear security;

The Air Defence and Air Operations Command is an operational command of the Air Force. He reports, for employment, to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and, organically, to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
The command of the air defence and air operations is placed under the authority of a general officer of the air officers' corps, who is assisted by a second commanding officer, general officer of the air officers' corps, who overrides him in all his duties.
The Air Defence and Air Operations Commander receives instructions from the Air Force Major General in accordance with section 1 of the above-mentioned Order of February 21, 2006.

The Air Defence and Air Operations Command is responsible for ensuring, under all circumstances, air defence in the metropolis airspace. As such, he proposes the air defence plans to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and conducts its execution. In this area, it ensures coordination with allied countries.
The Air Defence and Air Operations Commander is responsible, before the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, for meeting the objectives that enable the Air Force to honour its operational contracts and those defined by the Air Force Staff.
In the area of air operations, the Air Defence and Air Operations Command provides an expert role to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. It stands ready to implement a command and control capacity for air operations that can be initiated by order of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces for any operation conducted in a national, interallied and international framework.
He is responsible for the participation of the air force in defence in the territory in metropolis.
It acts as a territorial military authority as defined in the above-mentioned decision of 27 November 2003.
He is accountable to the Minister of Defence, Organization and Regulation of Military Air Traffic.
It participates in the organization and direction of search and rescue operations of aircraft in distress under the conditions fixed by the Decree of 11 January 1984.
It contributes to the condition of the Air Force formations according to the directives of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.

The Air Defence and Air Operations Commander has an Assistant General Officer "operations" and an Assistant General Officer "national territory".
As part of his air traffic missions, the Air Defence and Air Operations Commander is assisted by an Air Force General Officer, Director of Military Air Traffic.
It also has commanders of the aerial defence zones.
The Air Defence and Air Operations Command includes the following trainings:
- the operational air headquarters;
- the center of permanence and synthesis of the air force;
- specialized and implementation centres, supporting the programming and conduct of air operations;
– detachments of air defence coordination and air operations with allied air organizations.
The composition, organization and operation of these trainings are specified by instruction.
Support services may include, for use, air defence and air operations command.

In the area of aviation defence, the Air Defence and Air Operations Command carries out operational control of all means available to it by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
He reports to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces on a permanent basis to the Chief of Staff of the Air Safety Missions.

In the area of air operations, the Air Defence and Air Operations Command may be entrusted by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces pursuant to theArticle D.* 1221-4 of the Defence Codethe operational control of the means of the armies made available to it.
