It's created a family mediator State diploma attesting to the skills required to intervene with people in situations of rupture or separation in order to promote the reconstruction of their familial relationship and help in the search of solutions to the needs of each Member of the family.

Candidates for the training of family mediators must justify, in the social, health and legal field, national diploma or professional experience. They undergo a selection organised by training institutions. An order of the Minister in charge of Social Affairs determines the conditions for the application of this article.

The duration of training is fixed by the order provided for in article 2 above. This training can be accomplished over a period longer than three years. It includes a theoretical education and practical training.

The order provided for in article 2 above sets the nature of tests prior to the issue of the degree, including assessments of legal knowledge and family mediation.
The prefect of region validates the terms of certification organized by training institutions.
No one can stand more than three times for the trials of the diploma.

In order to obtain the diploma by validation of the acquired experience, candidates should have professional skills acquired in the exercise of an employee, not an employee or volunteer, activity directly related to the content of the degree. The total cumulative activity required is three years and can be taken into account up to ten years after the end of this activity.
The regional prefect decides the admissibility of requests for approval of the experience.

The regional prefect appoints the jury of the diploma, which, in accordance with the provisions of the I of article L. 335 - 5 of the code of education, includes:-the regional director of health and Social Affairs or his representative, president of the jury;
-from trainers of the training centres approved for the degree of family mediator;
-for a quarter or more of its members, representatives qualified professionals of family mediation.

The family mediator diploma is issued by the prefect of the region.

The preparing the diploma of State of family mediator training by public institutions or private accredited by the regional prefect under conditions defined by the order referred to in article 2.
Approval is given on the basis of the qualifications of the staff of coaching and training, of the educational project and related educational resources, as well as the rules of selection of candidates for training.

The Minister for the family and the Minister of Social Affairs, labour and solidarity, the Minister of health, family and disabled people are responsible, each which is concerned, of the execution of this Decree, which will be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
