    Pursuant to the provisions And in particular those provided for in Article 20 of Law 83-634 of 13juillet1983 on the rights and obligations of civil servants, as recalled by the Circular on Public Service/Budget of 1 October 1999, and to provide a basis The remuneration of the Director of the Agency for French Education Abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has drawn up a decree on the employment status of the director of this public institution under its supervision. Account of the responsibilities devolved to the director of the institution which: - ensures, in favour of children of French nationality residing abroad, the public service tasks relating to education, - contributes to the strengthening of relations of Cooperation between French and foreign educational systems for the benefit of French and foreign pupils, - contributes, in particular, to the reception of foreign pupils, to the influence of the French language and culture, - helps the pupils' families French to bear the costs of elementary, secondary or higher education, - grants scholarships to children of French nationality in schools and French educational institutions abroad, - manages Educational institutions located abroad, this employment is open to officials selected from among the members of the corps recruited by the National School of Administration or to officials belonging to a body or a framework Of employment with a terminal index greater than the gross index 1015. They shall, in addition, be classified in a grade or class whose gross terminal index cannot be lower than off-scale A. Staff members shall be seconded to that employment for a period of three years, renewable for a period of time. From three levels the first corresponding to group C, the second to group D and the third to group E. The length of the actual services required in order to be eligible for a step promotion is three years.

    On the report of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry, and the Minister of the Public Service, State Reform and Spatial planning,
    In view of the code of education, in particular Articles L. 452-1 to L. 452-10;
    In view of Act No. 83-634 of 13 July 1983, amending the rights and obligations of civil servants, Act No. 84-16 of 11 January 1984 Amended laying down statutory provisions relating to the public service of the State;
    Having regard to Decree No. 90-1037 of 22 November 1990 on the administration and operation of the Agency for French education abroad;

    The Director of the Agency for French Education Abroad is appointed from among the members of the corps recruited by way of the National School Of employees belonging to a body or framework of employment of category A with a crude terminal index greater than 1015. It must also be classified in a grade or class whose gross terminal index cannot be lower than the off-scale A.
