Order of 21 March 2005 authorizing the import of human embryonic stem cells for scientific purposes Section 37 of the Act No. 2004-800 of 6 August 2004 on bioethics

The Minister of Solidarity, Health and Family Affairs and the Minister Delegate to research,
Given Law No. 2004-800 of 6 August 2004 on bioethics;
In light of Decree No. 2004-1024 of 28 September 2004 on the import for the purpose of research of embryonic stem cells, the study protocols and Of the research and the conservation of these cells and applying the provisions of Article 37 of the Law No. 2004-800 of 6 August 2004 on bioethics;
In the light of the decree of 28 September 2004 laying down the model for the application of Authorisations referred to in Article 5 of Decree No. 2004-1024 of 28 September 2004 on the importation for the purpose of research of embryonic stem cells, the protocols for studies and research and the preservation of these cells and bearing Application of the provisions of article 37 of Act No. 2004-800 of 6 August 2004 on bioethics;
Given the request made on 20 January 2005 by the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (U 362) for the purpose of obtaining The authorization to import two human embryonic stem cell lines, the authorization to keep these cells, and the authorization of a study and research protocol;
Given the additional information provided by the Applicant;
In view of the opinion issued by the ad hoc committee on February 17, 2005,

Article 1


National Institute Health and medical research (U 362) is authorised to import from the non-profit WiCell Research Institute (USA), under the conditions described in the application for authorisation, two cell lines Human embryonic stem H 1 and H 9, intended for research aimed at the identification of genes involved in the control of self-renewal of human embryonic stem cells and differentiation Hematopoietic and cardiac differentiation of human embryonic stem cells.

Article 2


The Director of Research And the Director General of Health shall each have responsibility for the execution of this Order, which shall be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
