1 index Legislative Decree No. 980 the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: (I).-in accordance with rule 131, ordinal º 11, of the Constitution of the Republic, Faculty of this legislature, is to impose, in a general way, benefits and tax incentives or of any nature, for the promotion of cultural, scientific and otherwise.
II.-that the first antecedent related Chinese emigration to El Salvador dates back to February 22, 1870, when Mr Enrique Savage, owner of farms of the surroundings of the city of Santa Tecla, covered in the Executive Decree of that time, requests permission to the Salvadoran Government, to introduce the country to Chinese workers. At the request of Mr Savage, the Salvadoran Government issued a decree, based on article 47, paragraph 19 of the Constitution of that time, would allow the entry of Chinese migrants to the productive activities of these farms.
III.-that is necessary to highlight hard work, tenacity and popularity achieved by the Chinese descent in El Salvador, which has given Salvadoran society, distinguished personalities who have put on high the name of our country, in areas such as sport, culture, academic, and professional activities as well as social and business development.
IV.-that is necessary to highlight the social integration of the Chinese community and its contribution to the richness of multicultural and ethnic diversity of our nation, as also your example of perseverance and hard work that have contributed to the progress of El Salvador.

Decree: Article 1.-declare February 22 each year, "day of the ethnic group CHINA in EL SALVADOR", in tribute to the contribution that Chinese immigrants and their descendants community, have contributed to economic and social development, and the cultural enrichment of the country.
Article 2.-the present Legislative Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
