INDEX LEGISLATIVE DECREE No. 998
THE LEGISLATURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
I.- accordance with Article 131, ordinal 11, of the Constitution of the Republic it is faculty of this Legislature to enact, in a general way, and tax incentives or benefits of any nature, for the promotion of cultural, scientific activities and any other.
II.- That Article 32 of the Constitution of the Republic establishes that the family is the fundamental basis of society and shall be protected by the State, shall enact the necessary legislation and create the appropriate organizations and services for integration, welfare and social, cultural and economic development.
III.- in most international human rights treaties is regulated that the family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society, defining it in secondary legislation from marriage law marriage and kinship, referring in a broad sense, in which ascending and descending are integrated.
IV.- That from the statement that the family, their rights and the personal development of each of the members who compose it, is not an intangible entity, it is considered that it is constituted by the people united by a natural bond, which means the family as a single unit that prepares its members to live in society in a context of fraternity and with the opportunity of significance of each of its members. V. That
under the above related, it is appropriate that this Body of State declared on 24 May each year, "NATIONAL FAMILY DAY" in order to facilitate and promote their integration, welfare and social, cultural and economic development.

Art. 1. It is declared on 24 May each year, "NATIONAL FAMILY DAY" in order to facilitate and promote their integration, welfare and social, cultural and economic development.
Art. 2. This Legislative Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication
in the Official Journal.
