THE LEGISLATURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
.
I. That the third paragraph of Article 1 of the Constitution provides that it is the obligation of the State ensure that the inhabitants of the Republic, economic welfare and social justice;
II.- by Legislative Decree No. 773, dated July 18, 1996, published in the Official Gazette No. 144, Volume 218, from 07 August of that same year, the Police Career Law was issued, which is to regulate all matters concerning the admission of candidates to the National Civil Police, as well as with regard to promotion and termination of such police career; also establishing, in Title III, "From the Police Career"; Chapter Five, "termination" in subparagraph d) of Art 52, as one of the grounds for termination of the police profession, physical or mental disability.;
III.- by Legislative Decree No. 888, dated April 27, 2000, published in the Official Journal No. 95, Volume 347, May 24 of that year, the Equal Opportunities Act was issued to persons with disabilities, which aims to establish the system of equalization of opportunities for persons with physical, mental, psychological and sensory disabilities, whether congenital or acquired; . In addition regulating, in Article 2, inter alia, that the person with disabilities has a right: 1) To be protected against discrimination, exploitation, degrading or abusive treatment because of their disability; 4) training, employment and vocational rehabilitation; and 5) to obtain gainful employment and exercise occupation and not be fired because of his disability;
IV.- That for the above reasons, it becomes necessary to issue the relevant reform in order to safeguard the rights of persons with disabilities.
THEREFORE,
in exercise of its constitutional powers and initiative of Deputies David Ernesto Reyes Molina, Sigifredo Ochoa Perez, Antonio Ernesto Angulo Milla, Patricia Elena Gallardo Valdivieso and with the support of Deputy Arnoldo Martyr Marin Villanueva.
DECREES the following:
REFORM ACT OF POLICE RACE.

LEGISLATIVE INDEX Art. 1. added as the second paragraph of Article 52, as follows:.
"Members of the police force, which as a result of acts inside or outside the service acquire a disability should not be considered its status as grounds for termination of his police career."
Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
