INDEX LEGISLATIVE DECREE No. 74

THE LEGISLATURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
:
I.- Article 131 ordinal 11 of the Constitution provides that the Assembly is empowered to legislative, decreeing, in a general way, and tax incentives or benefits of any nature, for the promotion of cultural, scientific activities and any other.
II that breastfeeding is considered a right of children, which is protected by international conventions and national laws such as the Law on Protection of Children and Adolescents (LEPINA) take action to urge compliance .
III.- That official establishment of the World Breastfeeding Week, held in the year 1992 by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Fund for Children UNICEF has generated a social movement for his defense, promoting their commemoration in more than 170 countries, in compliance with the Innocenti Declaration, advocate the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding.
IV.- That the most important and visible benefits of breastfeeding, are reflected in the health and survival of children, as a result of the immunity conferred on them, so it is considered appropriate to perform actions directed towards this being relevant declare the third week of August of each year as "the week of Breastfeeding".
THEREFORE,

:
Art. 1. Declare the third week of August each year as "NATIONAL WEEK OF BREASTFEEDING".
Art. 2. This Legislative Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
