1 index Legislative Decree No. 144 LA Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: I.-that the criminal code was approved by Decree legislative number 1030, dated April 26, 1997, published in Official Journal No. 105, Tomo No. 335, on 10 June of that year, and entered into force on 20 April 1998.
II.-that the crime wave has reached high levels of crime, creating insecurity in the generality of our society, both in the natural person and in the trade and productive players in El Salvador.
III. that faced constant attacks by members of the National Civil Police, in which it causes them injury and death, there is no legislation that establish and penalise the attacking is necessary to reform article 147-A of the Penal Code.
IV.-that is important to provide legal protection to the members of the police Corporation and members of the armed forces, when they act constitutionally in public security functions.
Therefore, use of his constitutional powers and initiative members, Abilio Orestes Rodríguez Menjivar, as well as, Erick Ernesto Campos, Melvin David Gonzalez Bonilla, Jose Nelson saved Menjivar and Rafael Eduardo Paz Velis, of the 2009-2012 term.
DECREES, following reform of the criminal code: article 1.-added to article 147-A, a fourth paragraph follows: "If the shot is executed against a member of the National Civil Police or armed force in the exercise of their functions will be imposed the maximum penalty, increased by up to one-third."
Article 2-This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
