THE LEGISLATURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
:
I.- by Legislative Decree No. 680, dated October 20, 1993, published in the Journal official No. 6, Volume No. 322 of January 10, 1994, the Act Passengers' Baggage from abroad was issued.
II.- Art. 4 of that Act provides that the traveler can enter tax-exempt goods whose total customs value does not exceed the equivalent of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ($ 1,000.00) .
III.- That the Christmas season and New Year, return to our country many compatriots living abroad, in order to share with their families the festivities, occasion that leverage to bring gifts, goods for household use and various other items.
IV.- That these Salvadorans have migrated in search of work, which our country has been favored by foreign exchange earnings from remittances, which constitute one of the largest areas for attracting such currencies.
V. That is partly repay from its contribution to the country's economy, allowing unimpaired introduce baggage in excess of the provisions of that law and for a limited time amount.
THEREFORE,
in exercise of its constitutional powers and initiative of Deputies: Carlos Guzman Walter Coto, Orestes Rodriguez Abilio Menjivar, Wilfredo Iraheta Sanabria, José Wilfredo Guevara Diaz, Melvin David Gonzalez Bonilla, Guadalupe Lorena Peña Mendoza, Mariela Peña Pinto, Carmen Elena Calderón de Escalón, Norma Fidelia Guevara Ramirios, Ana Vilma Albanian Escobar, Bertha Mercedes Rodriguez, Coralia Patricia Guerra Andreu, José Francisco Merino Lopez, Guillermo Antonio Gallegos Navarrete, Orestes Fredesman Ortez Andrade, Mario Antonio Ponce Lopez, Douglas Leonardo Mejia Aviles, Rodolfo Antonio Parker Soto, Alejandro Zamora David Edwin Rolando Mata, Jose Mauricio Rivera, Gabriel Murillo, Arnoldo Martyr Marin and Jose Vidal Carrillo. DECREES
:
Art. 1. Amend temporarily from the effective date of this decree, and until 31 January 2013, Article 4 of Law Baggage of travelers from overseas as well.
"Art. 4. The traveler can also enter with exemption from duties and taxes, new goods whose total customs value does not exceed the equivalent of ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ($ 1,500.00). "

Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force from the day of its publication in the Official Journal.
