1 Decree No. 626 the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: I.-that by Legislative Decree No. 733 of date October 22, 2008, published in the Official Journal No. 20, volume no. 382, on January 30, 2009, was issued the code of criminal procedure.
II.-that the article 271 of the code, does not regulate a legal mechanism that establishes a period of research with regard to the crimes of public action, so the authorities must follow the established by the police Corporation device, so far to the detriment of the Mission of the police to prevent that the facts are brought to further consequences.
III. by what becomes necessary reform of article 271, so is established it will proceed immediately to the investigation of the crimes of public action.
Therefore, use of his constitutional powers and at the initiative of the deputies Miguel Angel Ahues Karra and Jose Nelson saved Menjívar (term 2009-2012).
DECREES the following: reform to the PENAL procedure code.
Article 1.-reforming subparagraph first of article 271 follows: "article 271.-the police, on its own initiative, by denunciation, notice or by order of the Prosecutor, shall immediately investigate the crimes of public action, to prevent that the acts committed are brought further consequences, to identify and apprehend perpetrators or participants;" It will collect evidence and other background needed for research."
Article 2.-this Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
