DECREE NO 705

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR,

CONSIDERING:

I.-That in accordance with Article 131, ordinal 22nd of the Constitution of the Republic, it is the faculty of this State Authority to grant to persons or populations, titles, honorary distinctions and compatible gratifications with the form of government established, for relevant services provided to the Homeland.

II.- That Article 6, literal c) of the Law of Honorific Distances, Gratitude and Titles, establishes that the honorable and distinguished distinctions of Notable and Distinguished or Distinguished, in their order of relevance, may be granted to Salvadoran persons or foreign residents, when the services or contributions that have been provided to the Homeland, are related to the dissemination and exploitation of science, art, culture, education and sport or any other form of altruistic service or collective; in such a way that it represents an undeniable benefit for the Salvadoran State or its

III.-That Mr. Fidel Antonio Magana Cifuentes, 89 years of age, born on February 15, 1925 in the City of Santa Ana, began his professional preparation as the "A" Class Soccer Coach, Professor, Umpire Class "A", Category Professor of Physical Education, identifying himself from very young with the sports activities and in a special way with the football, coming to play in teams like "Union" and "The 44".

IV.-That Professor Magana Cifuentes, who had been teaching for more than forty years, stood out throughout his career as a player and teacher of physical education, contributing in this way, with education and training hundreds of children, young girls and young people from Santander; his dedicated work as a journalist, storyteller and sports commentator, allowed him to be a founder of newspapers, weekly articles and magazines among which can be mentioned: "Avante", "Torch Sports" and "Life and Sport", excelling as editor of Diario El Mundo, Diario de Occidente de Santa Ana, Co-Latino and La Prensa Grafica.

V.-That by virtue of the above mentioned merits, it is appropriate to grant the Honorific Distinction of "Notable Professor and Sports Journalist of El Salvador", to Mr. Fidel Antonio Magana Cifuentes, in recognition of their educational and journalistic work for the benefit of the Salvadoran population.

in use of its Constitutional faculties and on the initiative of the Deputy Carmen Elena Calderón Sol de Escalón and the Deputy Mario Marroquín Mejia.

DECCRETA:

Art. 1.-declare Mr. Fidel Antonio Magana Cifuentes, "NOTABLE PROFESSOR AND SPORTS JOURNALIST OF EL SALVADOR", in recognition of his educational and journalistic work for the benefit of the Salvadoran population.

Art. 2.-This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
