DECREE NO 828

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR,

CONSIDERING:

I.-That by Legislative Decree No. 367 dated 03 May 2013, published in Official Journal No 99, Volume 399 of 31 May of the same year, the special ROAD FREIGHT TRANSPORT LAW was approved. The aim is to establish the legal, organizational and technical framework for the transport of freight by road, all cargo vehicles or combinations of them, which circulate on the roads of the Republic of El Salvador.

II.-That Art. 58 of the said Law provides that the modifications of the physical characteristics of the vehicles transport of cargo in its different modes, in relation to its weight and physical dimensions, which modify the specifications of manufacture, must be authorized in advance by means of a resolution issued by the Directorate within a period not more than five business days.

III.-That to date many freight transport entrepreneurs in their The authorities of the National Civil Police have serious difficulties because, for various reasons, such as the economic ones, they have not been able to carry out the corresponding procedure, which authorizes them to modify the specifications for the manufacture of their vehicles, so it becomes necessary to issue the corresponding transitional arrangement for which this important part of the population can continue to work as they have been doing to date.

in use of its Constitutional and initiative powers Deputies: Jose Serafin Orantes Rodriguez, Carlos Armando Reyes Ramos, Manuel Rigoberto Soto Lazo, Lorenzo Rivas Echeverria, and Mario Antonio Ponce Lopez.

DECCRETA the following Transitional Provision:

Art. 1.-Authorize for the period of 90 days, counted from the time of the present Legislative Decree, of all those trucks, modified either by cash drawer, barandas or without them, and whose modification does not consist in the corresponding circulation card, nor in the authorization issued by the competent authority.

Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal.
