DECREE NO 840

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR,

CONSIDERING:

I.-According to Legislative Decree No. 413 of July 3, 2013, published in Official Journal No. 138, Volume N ° 400, of July 26, 2013; the current Electoral Code was issued.

II. Article 142 provides for the same closing date for the submission of applications for Members or Members of the Central American Parliament, the Legislative Assembly and the Municipal Councils.

III.-It is necessary to advance the date of closure of the candidacies for Members of the Central American Parliament in order to facilitate the logistics and organization by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.

in use of its Constitutional powers and initiative of the Deputy Lorena Peña Mendoza.

DECREES THE FOLLOWING REFORM TO THE ELECTORAL CODE

Art.1.-Reform the second paragraph of Article 142 of the Electoral Code of the following Form:

" The registration period will be closed for the candidacies of President or President and Vice President or Vice-President, ninety days before the date indicated for the elections, for the candidacies of Deputies and The Central American Parliament seventy-five days before the date indicated for the elections, and for the candidacies of Deputies and Deputies to the Legislative Assembly and Municipal Councils, fifty days before the date indicated for the elections. elections. In both cases, it shall be counted until midnight on the last day, but if this is not a working day, it shall be counted until the last hour of the following working day. '

Art.2.-This Decree will enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
