DECREE No. 869 THE LEGISLATURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
I. That the Constitution of the Republic establishes in Article 72, which are rights citizen politicians vote; the right to form political parties in accordance with the law and to join existing parties; and to hold public office in compliance with the requirements determined by the Constitution and secondary laws.
II.- That Article 160 of the Electoral Code states that the application for registration of lists of candidates for deputy of the Legislative Assembly or nonpartisan candidates will be presented to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, accompanied by the documents proving the requirements of the Constitution of the Republic and the Electoral Code.
III.- That in order to promote greater political participation, and facilitate compliance with the requirements to run for elected office within the legal deadlines, it is necessary to issue the following transitional reform.
in exercise of its constitutional powers and initiative of Deputies Guadalupe Antonio Vazquez, Lorenzo Rivas Echeverria, Carlos Walter Coto Guzman, Francisco Jose Zablah Safie, Mario Alberto Tenorio Guerrero, Cesar Humberto Garcia Aguilera, Manuel Rigoberto Soto Lazo, Jesus Grande Ronald Rivas Rubio Recinos, Melvin David Gonzalez Bonilla, Jose Villeda Rinaldo Garzona and Congresswoman Ana Vilma Castro de Cabrera.
DECREES the following:
ELECTORAL REFORM CODE TRANSITION FOR THE ELECTIONS OF 2015
Art. 1. Refórmese the literal d) and add a final paragraph to Article 160 as follows:
"d) Certification of the birth or death in the case, the father or mother of the candidate postulate, or the determination that the quality of Salvadoran Salvadoran or given to any of them; "
" candidates or candidates who have been registered by the court to participate in any election in the same class, in any of the last three elections, will not be required to submit the documents referred to by the letters a) and d) of this Article by the Court have that information. "
Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal.
