DECREE NO 136

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR,

CONSIDERING:

I.-That in accordance with Article 131, Ordinary 22 ° of the Constitution of the Republic, it is the faculty of this State Body, to grant to persons or

populations, titles, honorary distinctions and gratifications, compatible with the form of government established, for relevant services provided to the Homeland.

II.-That article 6, literal a) of the Law of Honorific Distances, Gratitude and Titles, establishes that the honorary distinctions of "Son or Daughter of Merit of El Salvador" constitute a very high distinction and grant to the people

Salvadoran people who dedicate themselves or have dedicated themselves to the practice of humanitarian and altruistic activities, or for their transcendental contributions or services to human knowledge, in such a way that this contribution represents a benefit

national, regional or universal.

III.-That the literary work of this outstanding artist has transcended internationally, recognizing his effort and dedication, by becoming a creditor

of awards such as: International Poetry Prize of the Circle of Poets and Latin American Writers of New York, 1965; Prize "15 September" of the Central American Competition of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts of Guatemala,

1965 and 1966; "Enrique Echandi" Award of the Arts and Letters Directorate of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Costa Rica, 1968; and, Poetry Prize at the Latin American Games "Pablo Neruda", Lima, Peru, 1974.

IV.-That his legacy as a poet, writer, storyteller and playwright, his books and poems as well as having been the subject of reflection and analysis by students of

letters, have served as inspiration to many Salvadoran artists, who through his works, have seen the customs of our country reflected, which have been immortalized in his works.

V.-That by virtue of the merits mentioned, it is appropriate to grant the Honorific Distinction of " THE MERITISIMO SON OF THE SALVADOR ", Salvadoran artist José

Roberto Arucha Cea, known by José Roberto Cea, in recognition of his career as a poet, writer, storyteller and playwright, which has benefited the strengthening of the Salvadoran culture.

DECCRETA:

Art. 1.-Declare the Salvadoran artist José Roberto Arucha Cea, known by José Roberto

Cea, "SON MERITISIMO DE EL SALVADOR", in recognition of his career as a poet, writer, storyteller and playwright, which has benefited the strengthening of the Salvadoran culture.

Art. 2.-This Decree will enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
