DECREE NO 366

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR,

CONSIDERING:

I.-That in accordance with Article 131, Ordinary 22 ° of the Constitution of the Republic, it is the faculty of this State Body, to grant to persons or

populations, titles, honorary distinctions and gratifications, compatible with the form of government established, for relevant services provided to the Homeland.

II.-That article 6, literal a) of the Law of Honorific Distances, Gratitude and Titles, establishes that the honorary distinctions of "Son or Daughter of Merit of El Salvador" constitute a very high distinction and grant to the people

Salvadoran people who dedicate themselves or have dedicated themselves to the practice of humanitarian and altruistic activities, or for their transcendental contributions or services to human knowledge, in such a way that this contribution represents a benefit

national, regional or universal.

III.-Condesa Consuelo Suncin de Saint-Exupéry, born on April 10 of the year 1901 in the municipality of Armenia of the Department of Sonsonate, has been a

of the Salvadorans who stood out from very young for being a brilliant student, who graduated from the Central Institute of Senoritas thanks to his effort, determination and excellent academic performance, he managed to obtain a scholarship at a

college of the Ursuline nuns in San Francisco, California, to continue his studies in the United States of America. America.

IV.-That the Countess Consuelo Suncin de Saint-Exupery, represents El Salvador internationally in the fields of arts and literature, for having developed a brilliant career as an intellectual, writer, painter and

sculptor, excelling at her will to form academically and transcend borders national, being recognized during her stay in countries such as Mexico, Argentina and France, where she shone among the intelligentsia of

the time.

V.-That her enigmatic and charming personality, coupled with her talent, creativity

and strength of will, encouragement and motive to her famous husband the Count, aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery, who helped him to have security in his writing, becoming a great creator, thus legalizing the country and

not only his plastic and literary work, but also his imprint and influence in one of the masterpieces of the most celebrated and read contemporary literature of all time "The Principio", of which is the great

inspiring.

VI.-That in addition, the Condesa Consuelo Suncin of Saint-Exupery, had a remarkable trajectory as a plastic artist, painter and sculptor, with a magnetism and a

emotionality that bewitched, having their paintings exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Stockholm, Nice, Cannes, New York and Mexico among others;

winning the largest sculpture prize at the "Rincon de Bellas Artes" school in Paris, and writing the book entitled "Oppede," which he published in New York, in the year of 1945 and " Memoirs of the Rose ", an autobiography.

VII.-That internationally is one of the women The most recognized and brilliant Salvadoran in our Homeland, it being important to mention, that she rejected the

impositions of gender stereotypes taking their concerns to other horizons, with an iron will and a constant perseverance, which with its intellectual level, cultivated and captivated the most prestigious society in Europe,

that accepted and respected it until after his death, in his Villa de Grasse, France, on May 28, 1979, being buried in Paris as queen, in the same tomb of the celebrated Central American writer Enrique Gomez Carrillo, of

who was wife and widow, in the Pere Lachaise cemetery.

VIII.-That by virtue of the above, it is appropriate to grant the Honorific Distinction

post mortem, of "Daughter Meritisima of El Salvador" to the Condesa Consuelo Suncin de Saint-Exupéry, in recognition of his outstanding intellectual contributions in the field of literature, plastic arts and cultural dissemination, provided to the Republic of El Salvador and its population.

Art. 1.-declare the Condesa Consuelo Suncin de Saint-Exupery, "Daughter Meritisima de El Salvador", post mortem, in recognition of his outstanding intellectual contributions in the field of literature,

the plastic arts and cultural diffusion, provided to the Republic of El Salvador and its population.

Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal

.
