The COMMUNICATION FROM the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares that on 20 April. October 1972 was in
London adopted the Convention on the international regulations for preventing collisions
at sea (COLREG), 1972.
The instrument of accession of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic to the Convention on
the international regulations for preventing collisions at sea, 1972, was
deposited with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization,
depositary of the Convention, on July 7. April 1977.
When you access to the Convention made a statement, "that the provisions of article II of the
paragraph. 2 of the Convention on the international regulations for preventing collisions at sea
(London 1972) does not allow certain States to become parties to this Convention.
It is therefore of the opinion that the Convention should be open to all
interested countries in accordance with the principle of equal sovereignty of States.
Czechoslovak Socialist Republic also considers it necessary to
declare that the provisions of article III of the Convention, relating to the extension of the
its validity on territories for whose international relations it is party to this
the Convention responsible, is in contradiction with the Declaration of the General Assembly
The United Nations on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples
(Resolution 1514 (XV) of 14 December 1960), which proclaims the necessity of
speedy and unconditional end colonialism in all its
forms and manifestations. "
Convention entered into force, pursuant to article IV, paragraph 1. 1 day 15.
July 1977 and that date under the provisions of paragraph 2 of the same article. 2
entered into force for the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
The rules annexed to the Convention on the international regulations for
preventing collisions at sea, 1972, replaced, with effect from 15. July
1977 between parties to international rules for the prevention of
collisions at sea, 1960, which came for the Czechoslovak
Socialist Republic of Vietnam in force on 1 January. September 1965.
On 19 December. October 1993 Czech Republic announced to the Secretary-General
The International Maritime Organization, in accordance with the applicable principles
of international law, as the successor State to the Czech and Slovak
Federal Republic considered bound by the Convention on international
Regulations for preventing collisions at sea (COLREG), 1972, of 20 November 2003.
October 1972, as amended by later changes and additions, including a statement with
effect from 1. January 1993. Declaration on article II, paragraph 1. 2 and article III
Czech Republic withdrew its notification to the Secretary-General of
The International Maritime Organisation on 6. July 1995.
