on the agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government

The German Democratic Republic on the activities of cultural and information

centres in Prague and Berlin



On 2 February 2005. October 1974 in Berlin was the agreement signed between the Government of

The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the German Democratic

States on the activities of cultural and information centres in Prague and in

Berlin, which, according to article IX entered into force upon signature,

i.e.. on the day 2. October 1974. Czech text of the agreement shall be published at the same time.

The AGREEMENT



between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the German

Democratic Republic on the activities of cultural and information centres in the

and the Government of the German Democratic Republic,



on the basis of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the

Desiring to promote mutual awareness of the successes of the

approximation of the people of both States,



have decided to conclude this agreement:



Article. (I)



1. both parties will be universally support the activities of cultural and

information centres in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the

The German Democratic Republic.



2. the cultural and information centre of the Czechoslovak Socialist

Republic in Berlin bears the name of "cultural and information centre

The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic ". Cultural and information

the Centre of the German Democratic Republic in Prague bears the name of "cultural and

information centre of the German Democratic Republic. "



3. Each Contracting Party may establish on the territory of the other Contracting

4. Cultural and information centre of the Czechoslovak Socialist

Republic are legal persons.



Article II



At the head of a cultural and information centre is the Director, appointed by the

cultural and information centre.



Article. (III)



1. the activities of cultural and information centres shall be carried out in accordance

with the legislation of the receiving State.



2. the cultural and information centres shall cooperate in the implementation of the plans, which

are concluded an agreement on cultural cooperation between the Czechoslovak

Socialist Republic and the German Democratic Republic.



3. Culture and information centre under this agreement is active all over the

the territory of the receiving State. If the Contracting Parties shall establish branch offices,

the range of their activities in the territory of the receiving State for a mutual

the agreement of both parties.



Article IV



1. the activities of cultural and information centres includes, in particular:

articles, art glass and jewellery in cultural and information

centres and on sales exhibitions and courier;



I) social enterprises in cooperation with organisations

2. Sales activity of cultural and information centers has retail

character.



Article. In



1. each Party shall provide for the cultural and information centres

free use of rooms necessary for the implementation of activities under this

the agreement.



2. If necessary to move the cultural and information centre, then

the host country will provide the other side of the room the same values.

Supplied goods, equipment and items needed for the activities of cultural and

information centres under this agreement are not subject to taxes, benefits

and import charges.



Article. (VII)



The representatives of the organizations of the Contracting Parties of the Centre have set up, is

as a rule, meet once a year in order to exchange experience and to

discuss issues arising in the implementation of this agreement.



Article. (VIII)



Further questions the activities of cultural and information centres are in detail

regulated by the Protocol, which is part of this agreement.



Article. (IX)



1. this Agreement shall enter into force on the date of signature and shall remain in force

for five years.



This agreement shall be extended by one year, unless one of the

2. The date on which this agreement enters into force, the Protocol shall cease to be valid

on the activities of cultural and information centres in Prague, and in Berlin from

on 4 April 2006. in May 1956, and the additional protocol to the Protocol of activities

cultural and information centres from day 4. May 1956.

PROTOCOL



to the agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government

The German Democratic Republic on the activities of cultural and information

centres in Prague and Berlin



Article. (I).



1. each Party shall provide for the use of cultural and information centres

the room necessary to carry out their planned activities. Rent and expenses

for electricity, gas, water, cleaning the streets, hauling

heating and ventilation of garbage shall be borne by the receiving State, except when the

Center or branch office are not established on the basis of reciprocity.



2. The normal building maintenance applies, the Contracting Party which provided the

the use of the room. Each cultural and information centre is

required room provided for the use of insure against disaster damage

at their own expense. The beneficiary State takes care of the technical status and control

all fixed installations that made available.



3. expenditure associated with furniture, with its normal maintenance and expenses

for the eventual reconstruction of the cultural and information centres are borne by

the Contracting Party, which set up a cultural and information centre.



Article II.



The sales activities of cultural and information centres are operated by the

Article. III.

Article IV.



The value of the sales volume of the contributions shall be determined under the annual

protocols on the mutual exchange of goods between the Czechoslovak Socialist


Republic and the German Democratic Republic.

the performance of contingent, however, admits the difference of up to 10%.



Article. In the.

Article. VII.



1. Cultural and information centres in the relevant national bank
