the negotiation of the agreement on cultural cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak

Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Iceland



Exchange of notes between the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czechoslovak

Socialist Republic and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland

the Republic was on 17. September 1979 in Rejkjaviku negotiated agreement on

cultural cooperation between the Governments of the two countries. Agreement entered into force

on the day of exchange of notes.



Czech translation of both notes, shall be published at the same time.

Rejkjavik, 17. September 1979



Excellency,



I have the honour to inform you that the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist

Republic, desiring to promote the friendly relations between the

The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of Iceland in the

accordance with the provisions of the final act of the Conference on security and

cooperation in Europe, it is considered appropriate to propose that both Governments

promote the development of cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.



The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic considers that this objective can

be achieved through:



-support for the development of cooperation and exchanges in the fields of science, education, public education,

Theatre, film, mass media, literature,

fine arts and music, museums and cultural relics protection, and it

umožňováním broadcast of the delegations and individuals active in the field of culture,

scientists, educational staff, students and specialists, umožňováním tour

art and individual artists and the organisation of exhibitions, as well as

support for translating and publishing beautiful, scientific and technical literature

-promoting cooperation to non-governmental organizations for the purpose of enabling activities

that will serve the objectives of this agreement and a better understanding of the cultural and

the social life of both countries;



-enabling exchanges between the two countries in the field of sport and tourism.



Activities in the above-mentioned areas of cooperation, as well as financial and

the business conditions will be agreed in each individual case

in advance through diplomatic channels or between the competent organizations.



If the Government of the Republic of Iceland will agree with the above, I have

the honor to propose that this note and your Excellency's reply were considered

an agreement between the two Governments, which shall enter into force on the date of Your

answers and remains in effect until one of the Governments of the Contracting Parties denounces it.

highest consideration.

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your Excellency's note of today's date, which reads as follows:
