Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that on 1 November 1974
was in London and negotiated on behalf of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic
signed the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea
(SOLAS), 1974, and on 17 . February 1978 was adopted the Protocol ibid
1978 to the International Convention for the safety of life at sea, 1974.

Instrument of approval of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea
1974, the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic was deposited with
Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, the depositary
Convention of 18 August 1980.

Instrument of accession of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic to the Protocol
1978 to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974
was deposited with the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization
second June 1983.

The Convention entered into force by virtue of Article X para. (A) the date
25th in May 1980 for the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic under the same article
para. (b) entered into force on 18 November 1980.

1978 Protocol entered into force by virtue of Article V, paragraph. 1
on 1 May 1981, the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic
under the same article, paragraph. 2 entered into force on 2 September 1983.

International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974
replaced with effect from 25 May 1980 between the contracting parties
International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1960, which came into force for the Czechoslovak
Socialist Republic
into force on the 5th October 1967 and the Convention of 1960 replaced with effect from 26 May 1965
between the contracting parties to the International Convention on
Safety of Life at Sea, 1948, which came into force for the Czechoslovak Republic
into force on 25 . June 1957.

On October 19, 1993 Czech Republic announced
Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, in accordance with the applicable principles of international law
as a successor state to the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic considers
with effect from 1 January 1993
consider itself bound by the International Convention for the safety of life at sea (SOLAS)
1974 dated November 1, 1974, and 1978 Protocol dated 18 February
1978, as their subsequent amendments and supplements .
