twenty-six (26) of April thousand nine hundred and ninety-four (1994).
COLOMBIA CONGRESS
Having regard to the text of the "Convention on the Mutual Recognition of Certificates, Titles and Academic Degrees of Higher Education between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Peru", signed in Lima, the twenty-six (26) of April of a thousand nine hundred and ninety-four (1994), which to the letter says:

MUTUAL RECOGNITION AGREEMENT FOR CERTIFICATES, DEGREES AND ACADEMIC DEGREES OF HIGHER EDUCATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC
FROM COLOMBIA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF PERU.
The Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Peru, hereinafter the parties, motivated by the desire to develop relations between the peoples of both countries and to collaborate widely in the areas of education, culture and science,
AGREE:
ARTICLE 1o. Parties shall recognize and grant validity to academic degrees and degrees of higher education awarded by the universities and higher education institutions officially recognized by the educational systems of both States, through the respective Ministries of Education.
ARTICLE 2o. For the purposes of this agreement, recognition shall be given of the official validity granted in each of the Contracting States to studies conducted in higher education institutions. of the Educational System of the other State, accredited by academic degrees or degrees.
ARTICLE 3o. The parties shall provide, through the intermediary of the competent bodies of each country, the granting of the right to the exercise of the profession to those who credit it with a recognized title, according to the internal legal rules in force for each profession.
ARTICLE 4. The partial studies of any level of higher education performed in one of the signatory countries, will be recognized in the other, in order to be able to continue with the same, on the basis of the subjects approved in an officially recognised higher education programme in the education systems of each country.
ARTICLE 5o. To comply with this agreement, the parties shall inform each other about any exchange rate in their educational systems in particular on the granting of securities and academic degrees in higher education.
PARAGRAFO. In the event that the parties consider it necessary, they may form a bilateral technical commission that will be designed to produce a table of equivalences and accreditations, which will meet as many times as possible. considers necessary to meet the intended target.
The Commission shall meet within 90 days following the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification.
ARTICLE 6o. In case of changes in the laws regulating the systems of higher education, both in the Republic of Colombia and in the Republic of Peru in relation to the academic degrees or degrees of Higher education recognised by each State shall be reported on the diplomatic track.
ARTICLE 7o. The parties shall take the corresponding measures in their educational systems, in order to ensure compliance with this Convention by all institutions of Higher Education of the respective countries.
ARTICLE 8. The Colombian side will be represented by the Colombian Institute for the Promotion of Higher Education, ICFES and the Peruvian part of the Ministry of Education.
ARTICLE 9o. This agreement shall be subject to the approval of each country's internal legal system and shall enter into force on the date of the corresponding exchange of instruments of ratification.
ARTICLE 10. The disputes arising from the application of this Convention shall be settled by mutual agreement of the parties.
ARTICLE 11. This convention shall be valid for five years and shall be automatically extended for periods of equal times.
May be denounced by the parties, by means of diplomatic written notification, in which case the complaint will take effect one year after the respective notification.
Subscribed in Lima at twenty-six days of the month of April 1994, in two original texts, both being equally authentic.

DECRETA:
ARTICLE 1o. Approve the "Convention of mutual recognition and certificates, degrees and academic degrees of higher education between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Peru", subscribed in Lima, twenty-six (26) of April of one thousand nine hundred and ninety-four (1994).
ARTICLE 2o. In accordance with the provisions of Article 1o. of Law 7a. 1944, the "Convention of Mutual Recognition and Certificates, Titles and Academic Degrees of Higher Education between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Peru", signed in Lima, the twenty-six (26) of April nine hundred and ninety-four (1994), which, by the first article of this law, is approved, will force the country from the date on which the international link with respect to it is perfected.
ARTICLE 3o. This law governs from the date of its publication.
