Having regard to the text of the "Treaty on Maritime Delimitation between the Republic of Colombia and the Republic of Honduras", signed in San Andrés on 2 August 1986.

TREATY ON MARITIME DELIMITATION BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF HONDURAS THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA AND

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF HONDURAS

Reaffirming the ties of friendship that preside over the relations between the two nations and aware of the need to establish the maritime border between the two states;

They have resolved to conclude a treaty and to this end they have designated as their plenipotentiaries:

Your Excellency the President of the Republic of Colombia, Mr. Dr. Augusto Ramírez Ocampo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, your Excellency the President of the Republic of Honduras, Mr. Carlos López Contreras, Foreign Secretary,

Who have agreed to the following:

ARTICLE 1o. The maritime border between the Republic of Colombia and the Republic of Honduras is constituted by geodesic lines connecting the points located at the following coordinates:

No. 2 Lat. 14o. 59 ' 08 " N Long. 79o. 56 ' 00 " W

No. 3 Lat. 15o. 30 ' 10 " N Long. 79o. 56 ' 00 " W

No. 4 Lat. 15o. 46 ' 00 " N Long. 80o. 03 ' 55 " W

No. 5 Lat. 15o. 58 ' 40 " N Long. 79o. 56 ' 40 " W

Between points 4 and 5 the maritime border shall be constituted by a circle arc whose radius is measured from a point located in 15o coordinates. 47 ' 50 " N and 79o. 51 ' 20 " W.

No. 6 Lat. 16o. 04 ' 15 " N Long. 79o. 50 ' 32 " W

From the previous point, the maritime border will continue to the east by the 16o parallel. 04 ' 15 " N, as far as the delimitation is to be made with a third State.

The agreed maritime border is pointed out, only for illustration purposes, in the Nautical Charter number 28000, published by the Defense Mapping Agency Hydrographic/Topographic Center, Washinton D. C., 74 Edition, March 30, 1985 which, signed by Plenipotentiaries, annexed to this Treaty, being understood that, in any case, the tenor of the Treaty shall prevail.

ARTICLE 2o. The delimitation set forth in the previous article shall not prejudice the layout of the maritime borders that are established or that may be established in the future between any of the Parties. Contracting parties and third States, provided that such layout does not affect the jurisdiction of the other Contracting Party by this instrument.

ARTICLE 3o. The hydrocarbon or natural gas reservoir or deposit that extends to one and the other side of the established line will be exploited in such a way that the distribution of the volumes of the resource that is extract from the deposit or deposit, be proportional to the volume of the deposit or deposit, respectively, on each side of that line.

ARTICLE 4. Any difference between the Contracting Parties concerning the interpretation and application of this Treaty shall be determined by the means of peaceful settlement established in the law

ARTICLE 5o. This Treaty shall be submitted for approval to the required constitutional procedures in each of the Contracting Parties and shall enter into force upon the exchange of the respective instruments of ratification.

This Treaty is signed in duplicate, the texts of which are equally authentic and give faith, today two (2) of August of one thousand nine hundred and eighty-six (1986) in San Andrés, Archipelago of San Andrés, Republic of Colombia.

DECRETA:

ARTICLE 1o. Approve the "Treaty on Maritime Delimitation between the Republic of Colombia and the Republic of Honduras," signed in San Andrés on August 2, 1986.

ARTICLE 2o. In accordance with the provisions of Article 1o. of Law 7a. In 1944, the "Treaty on Maritime Delimitation between the Republic of Colombia and the Republic of Honduras," signed in San Andrés on August 2, 1986, which, by the article first of this law is approved, will force the country from the date on which the international link with respect to the same is improved.

ARTICLE 3o. This law governs from the date of its publication.
