® CONVENTION OF MUTUAL RECOGNITION OF STUDIES AND DEGREES OF HIGHER EDUCATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF CUBA

The Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Cuba:

Motivated by the desire to develop friendly relations between the peoples of both countries and to collaborate in the sphere of education, science and culture:

Agree to sign the present agreement of equivalence and mutual recognition of higher education studies and degrees, conferred by Institutes and Centers of Technical, Technological and University Teaching of both countries in the following terms:

ARTICLE 1o. The diplomas awarded a professional degree in the Republic of Cuba, when graduating from the Universities and the Higher Institutes

and at the Polytechnic Superior Institutes and the diplomas that confer a professional title in the Republic of Colombia upon graduation

in higher education institutions, they are equivalent and will be recognized by both countries. These titles will entitle them to the requirements laid down in the internal laws that regulate the professional exercise and will allow entry to graduate programs of both countries.

ARTICLE 2o. The titles of Technical and Professional Technologists, awarded in the Republic of Colombia, by the Technical Technical Institutions, Technological Schools or University Institutions, will be recognized as such by the Republic of Cuba.

ARTICLE 3o. The diploma awarded by the Institutes of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba that confer the professional title of Doctor and the university diploma of Doctor and Surgeon awarded in the Republic of Colombia are equivalent and entitle their holders to exercise the profession in both countries, prior to compliance with the internal requirements to be determined by the competent bodies. The diplomas in this article give the right to enter post-graduate programs in both countries.

ARTICLE 4. The professional titles in the area of the Law granted in the Republic of Cuba and the title of Advocate awarded by the universities in the Republic of Colombia, will require for their validation, which the curse or valide of each country's own subjects, which shall be determined by the competent State body.

ARTICLE 5o. The degree of Doctor of Science in different areas, awarded by the Higher Education Centers of the Republic of Cuba, is equivalent to the corresponding graduate degrees awarded by the Institutions of Higher Education in the Republic of Colombia.

ARTICLE 6o. The scientific degree of Doctor, awarded in the Republic of Cuba and the scientific degree of Doctor, awarded in the Republic of Colombia, in the different areas of knowledge, will be recognized by both countries as equivalent, subject to evaluation of the relevant academic aspects and compliance with existing legislation in this respect in each State.

ARTICLE 7o. The titles awarded in Higher Education Centers in both countries in Fine Arts programs, will be recognized as equivalent and will entitle the professional exercise in their respective branches artistic.

ARTICLE 8o. Titles corresponding to academic programs other than those mentioned in this Convention may be recognized with the observations of the requirements referred to in the provisions legal status of each State.

ARTICLE 9o. The contracting parties undertake to provide each other with information on the educational system, as well as changes that occur in particular with regard to the issue of securities. higher level academics in both countries. They shall also establish a Technical Commission to determine the equivalences, which entail the application of this Convention.

ARTICLE 10. The contracting parties shall take the appropriate measures to ensure compliance with this Convention by the competent State agencies.

ARTICLE 11. This Convention shall be subject to the approval of the competent bodies of each country and shall enter into force on the date on which the parties communicate by diplomatic means to inform fulfilled the requirements expressed by the parties.

ARTICLE 12. This Convention shall be for a period of five years and may be denounced by any of the Contracting Parties, by means of a written notification by diplomatic means, in which case the complaint shall take effect six months after the respective notification.

DECRETA:

ARTICLE 1o. Approve the "Convention of Mutual Recognition of Studies and Titles of Higher Education between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Cuba", signed in Havana, on 4 May of 1994.

ARTICLE 2o. In accordance with the provisions of Article 1o. of Law 7a. The Convention on Mutual Recognition of Studies and Titles of Higher Education between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Government of the Republic of Cuba, signed in Havana on 4 May 1994, which was signed by 1o. of this law will be approved, will force the country from the date on which the international link with respect to it is perfected.

ARTICLE 3o. This law applies as of the date of its publication.
